Netflix’s original series and one of the most popular shows, Bridgerton has been renewed for a second season. The series follows the Bridgerton siblings — Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth – explore Regency age London in pursuit of love, surrounded by friends and competitors. Each episode features narration by actress Julie Andrews, who plays Lady Whistledown, an anonymous and ever-scandalous newsletter columnist who has access to all of London’s information, piqueing everyone’s curiosity, including Queen Charlotte’s.
Bridgerton Season 2 Release Date
Netflix has announced that Bridgerton has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere on March 25, 2022. Chris Van Dusen, the show’s creator, announced in November 2021 that Bridgerton Season 2 will be released, and Shonda Rhimes updated Adweek in December 2021 that the show’s editing is halfway complete.
Bridgerton cast members received a new letter, written on a single sheet of paper, in a video shown on Christmas Day 2021. Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, wonders aloud, “Is that Whistledown?” “What’s she got to say, the cheeky little mistress.” The letter starts with a recognition of the significant date. “Happy Anniversary to our buzzy ton. It is customary for a first anniversary to gift papers, dear readers. I do hope you find this one informative. Bridgerton returns March 25.”
Bridgerton Season 2 Plot
Julia Quinn’s series consists of eight books focusing on the Bridgerton siblings- Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. The first season was inspired by the first book, The Duke and I, following the story of Daphne Bridgerton. This way, the second season is based on the second book of the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, revolving around the oldest Bridgerton sibling Anthony and his love interest Kate Sharma.
Bridgerton Season 2 Cast
Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) will be the lead actor of the second season, alongside Simone Ashley as his potential bride (Kate Sharma). The role of Kate’s sister, Edwina, who also plays a key role in Anthony’s love story, will be played by newcomer Charithra Chandran. Shelley Conn will play the girls’ mother, Lady Mary Sharma. The rest of the core cast including Claudia Jessie, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, and Polly Walker are expected to reprise their roles. Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown, Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), and Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) are also expected to be back for the second season of the anticipated series.
