With the new series Shining Vale, from Sharon Horgan, the creator of Divorce, and Jeff Astrof, the co-creator of Trial & Error, STARZ joins the horror-comedy genre. STARZ has previously dabbled in the horror genre, airing the dark period drama Penny Dreadful, starring Eva Green and set in a world where all of the classic supernatural creatures exist, from 2014 to 2016, as well as the short-lived sequel series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Shining Vale, on the other hand, will be a complete 180, starring Courteney Cox in a show about a relocation to a tiny town gone wrong.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Shining Vale Plot
Shining Vale portrays a troubled family as they relocate to a tiny town from the city. Their home appears to have been the scene of horrific crimes, but the only one who observes is Pat, the mother, who believes she is either unhappy or possessed. Pat became famous after penning a bawdy women’s liberation novel packed with sensuality, drugs, and bad conduct that was inspired by her own wild childhood. She’s now 17 years sober, clean, and bored out of her mind. She hasn’t been able to create a sequel, she and her husband have no physical intimacy left between them, and her teenage kids despise her.
Shining Vale Release Date and Trailer
The series is set to be released on March 6, 2022, on STARZ. The first season is set to have eight episodes, likely to be released one per week after the premiere.
