Apple dropped the trailer of one of the most anticipated dramas on the year, Pachinko, based on the novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee, a Korean American author. Starring actors from diverse cultures, the story chronicles four generations of a Korean family which has faced adversities every now and then, uprooted multiple times, gave in to the hard realities of life, and made choices that turned their lives in the most unanticipated directions.
The trailer gives a peek into the life of Sunja, a Korean girl, from her young to old age. The story revolves around the choices she made and how it affected multiple generations of her family.
The trailer opens into a rural area where a girl is born and said to thrive and carry the family’s legacy on her shoulders. The story narrates how a poor family from Korea migrates to Japan in order to look for opportunities and a better life, however, faces the harsh realities like racism and discrimination on an open basis. The trailer gives shots from past and present simultaneously and gives an idea of suffering in different timelines.
Apple TV+ took to twitter to release the first look images for the series and they are giving subtle ideas of what to expect from the upcoming drama. Take a look:
