We feel so happy and proud every time our favorite artist releases a catchy and hit song as if it’s our song. The well-deserved appreciations floods for them from all over the world. But, ever wonder about the music producers behind the hit song? A lot of us are guilty of completely forgetting the staff working behind the scenes to make sure our favs are provided with the best of music quality.
Music production is a very delicate process, the keen ears and sheer talent required to constantly come up with new music and stay relevant with the industry already over-saturated with producers is uncanny.
Here’s an appreciation list for a few of the top music producers of the K-pop industry who have given us hits after hits for years and proven how their music is timeless.
Black Eyed Pilseung
Black Eyed Pilseung, better known as BEP, is a South Korean music production and songwriter duo, consisting of Rado (Song Joo-young) and Choi Kyu-sung. They debuted as a duo by producing songs for the girl group SISTAR for their 2014 album, Touch N Move. BEP produced 2 songs for the album – Wow and the smash hit Touch My Body.

Both Rado and Choi kyu-sung often collaborated with Shinsadong Tiger prior to the formation of the duo. Choi Kyu-sung worked on massive hits like T-ara’s Roly-Poly, Hyuna’s Bubble Pop, and Beast’s Fiction, while Rado isn’t that behind with 4Minute’s Volume Up, Apink’s My My and Trouble Maker’s Trouble Maker and Now.
You bet together, the two of them have created iconic hits like TWICE’s breakthrough hit Cheer Up, TT, Likey, Fancy, Sistar’s Lonely, Apink’s I’m So Sick, Chungha’s Rollercoaster, and Got7’s If You Do, to name a few.
Teddy Park
If you know or are a fan of BLACKPINK, then Teddy ain’t a new name for you. Teddy Park is a Korean-American rapper, composer, and music producer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to the US with his family at a very young age. At the age of 17 years old, Teddy and his friend Danny flew to South Korea to audition for YG Entertainment and got in.
Park made his debut in the hip hop group 1TYM in 1998, alongside his friend Danny, Jinhwan, and Baekyoung. Park served as the group’s primary songwriter and producer on all of their five studio albums. After the group went on a hiatus, Teddy became an in-house producer for YG Entertainment and created songs for major household names such as Big Bang, 2NE1, and Sunmi. Back in 2011 Teddy even rejected to work with Lady Gaga to produce music for labelmate 2NE1.

In 2016, Teddy began working with BLACKPINK and founded The Black Label, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment. The label currently houses Zion.T, Korea’s second bestselling artist of 2015 after Big Bang, and Korean-Canadian soloist Jeon Somi.
Teddy continues to produce viral hits like BLACKPINK’s How You Like That and Lovesick Girls, Somi’s Dumb Dumb, and XOXO. And we definitely can’t forget his smash hits from back in the days – 2NE1’s I’m The Best, and Lonely, CL’s The Baddest Female, Lee Hi’s Rose, and Taeyang’s debut EP Hot.
LDN Noise
To many people’s surprise behind Red Velvet’s Dumb Dumb, SHINee’s View, EXO’s Lightsaber, and many more such hits, is a British duo named LDN Noise (pronounced as London Noise).
LDN Noise is a British songwriter and music-producing duo consisting of Greg Bonnick and DJ Hayden Chapman. The duo is mostly known for their hits for SM Entertainment’s idols. The Korea Times has even dubbed them “hidden heroes” for their impact on the K-pop industry.
Some of the talented pair’s works include TWICE’s Shadow, ASTRO’s Crazy Sexy Cool, SuperM’s Jopping, and SHINee’s Married To The Music.
Brave Brothers
Kang Dong-chul known by his stage name, Brave Brothers, is a rapper, producer, and songwriter who previously worked for YG Entertainment before leaving to form his own label, Brave Entertainment. He has produced hit songs for After School, SISTAR, 4Minute, T-ara, Son Dam Bi, Big Bang to name a few.
He has many hit songs under his belt, including the 2021 viral hit Rollin’ by the label’s artist Brave Girls, Ma Boy by SISTAR, Ice Cream by HyunA, How Come by Brown Eyed Girls, Spring and 4:44 by Park Bom, and Full Moon by Sunmi.
Hitchhiker
Choi Jin Woo, better known by his stage name Hitchhiker, is a K-pop hitmaker who has recently made a name for himself with his bass-heavy instrumentals. He’s worked with a lot of prominent stars but his biggest hit was Brown Eyed Girls’ Abracadabra. He’s signed to SM and has collaborated with a number of their artists.
Some of the hits made by him include Game by BoA, I Don’t Know, SCREAM, and Lucky Star by TVXQ, Can You Feel It? By Super Junior – D&E and Sign by SNSD.
