BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ tests positive for COVID-19.

On February 28, 2022, BLACKPINK’s main vocalist, ROSÉ, was supposed to depart for Paris along with fellow member Jisoo for the Paris Fashion Week. Unfortunately, she ended up halting all her activities as she was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the day of her overseas flight. 

ROSÉ was supposed to attend the upcoming Paris Fashion Week as the global ambassador of Yves Saint Laurent, along with Jisoo, who would be representing Dior.

YG Entertainment official statement 

YG Entertainment released the statement regarding the situation on the same day.

The statement started off with the label informing about ROSÉ’s diagnosis, “BLACKPINK’s Rosé took a PCR test before her [overseas] departure on February 28, and the results came back positive, leading to a cancellation of a part of her overseas activities.”

The agency further informed, the other 3 members – Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa, tested negative and will be continuing with their activities as planned. Neither ROSÉ nor the other members are showing any symptoms as of now. 

They assured fans that they will be prioritizing the artists’ health over anything and asked fans to show support for ROSÉ’s speedy recovery and to others members as they are active globally right now.

The official statement reads:

“This is YG Entertainment. BLACKPINK’s Rosé took a PCR test before her [overseas] departure on February 28, and the results came back positive, leading to a cancellation of a part of her overseas activities. The other three members (Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa) tested negative, and no one, including Rosé who was diagnosed with COVID-19, is exhibiting any particular symptoms. All four members of BLACKPINK have completed their COVID-19 vaccination, and we will prioritize the health of our artists and staff members and spare no effort [for their well-being]. We would appreciate it if you could show support for Rosé’s rapid recovery as well as the BLACKPINK members who are active globally. We will provide an update if there are any changes in the future.”

After the news of ROSÉ testing positive for COVID-19 was broken to fans, BLINKs were quick to rush to social media and fill it with messages of love and support for the singer. Comments read, “Get well soon Rosé”, “Get well soon! Rosie we love you”, “We can go to Paris next time, please take care of your health right now” and “Blinks are here to support you, don’t worry and rest well”.

Many BLINKs also used old pictures and videos of the artist to communicate their admiration for her. 

ROSÉ COVID-19 positive

BLACKPINK is a world-famous K-pop girl group under YG Entertainment which made its debut in 2016. The group consists of Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and ROSÉ. ROSÉ made her solo debut in March 2021 with the release of her single album R. In its first week, the album sold 448,089 copies, the most for a Korean female soloist. On the Ground, the lead song, was likewise a financial success, topping the Billboard Global 200 and reaching the top five in the United States.

Prior to this BLACKPINK’s Lisa had also tested COVID positive in December 2021 and fortunately recovered soon. We hope the same for ROSÉ and wish her a speedy recovery.
