Dicktown, the weekly segment on the third season of the psychedelic comedy anthology series Cake, is back with a Season 2, but this time as a standalone show, Dicktown Season 2.
Launched in 2020, Dicktown is written by and stars John Hodgman and David Rees and produced by Matt Thompson. It is an animated comedy miniseries, that returns with more strange and seemingly pointless mysteries for the detective duo, in their 40s, to solve for teenagers in Richardsville, better known as Dicktown, North Carolina, where the pair learns that they are losing touch with their young customers while overcoming the challenges of a post-arch enemy bromance.
John and David, the nerdy and financially strapped private detective and his meathead sidekick who still lives with his parents, will return in Season 2 of Dicktown with their oddball investigative high jinks and unlikely blossoming friendship.
John used to be Dicktown’s most famous child detective, solving Hardy Boys-style crimes, the most of which were committed by none other than David, his now-best buddy, and coworker. John, who appears to be on the verge of a midlife crisis, solves the bizarre and pointless riddles presented to him by the small town’s only paying clients, the local teenagers.

What is Dicktown Season 2 about?
Dicktown Season 2 will see the pair cope with adulthood and continue to struggle to produce enough money to keep their business and home afloat, all while solving mysteries in the same title-card way as the first season. When the two are invited to a murder mystery party with people their age, they must demonstrate their superior sleuthing talents in order to acquire respect and potentially sponsorship from other adults.
Night-vision goggles, camouflage to wear as they stake out locations, and animal costumes to go undercover in a possible play on the very cute and wildly popular social simulation video game Animal Crossing, the duo does make their return with some great new gear in the second installment of the series. Audiences will watch as the two, one of whom may be dressed in anime costume, solve the case of a rogue school mascot wreaking havoc in the small town, as well as a slew of other seemingly irrelevant mysteries.
Dicktown Season 2 Cast
Show creators John Hodgman and David Rees returned to their roles as the financially insecure and out-of-touch detective John Hunchman and his always-cool sidekick David Purefoy, and are also serving as the series’ sole writers off-screen.
This season, Ronald Peet has come back to his role as Tucker, a well-off and influential adolescent who is surrounded by electronics and computers while dressed in futuristic costume. He will undoubtedly help the poor John and David, who are still in need of financial aid.
Anna Akana has also returned as the blue-haired burnout Meg. The dry-humored record store cashier is back in Dicktown Season 2 for an incredibly violent and inappropriate musical mystery.
