“If you define yourself by the power to take life, the desire to dominate, to possess…then you have nothing”, said Obi-Wan Kenobi, undoubtedly one of the greatest characters ever created by George Lucas. He was a celebrated Jedi leader till Palpatine took over and the galaxy went into chaos.

Earlier a supporting character, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be the lead in the upcoming series, directed by Deborah Chow. The series is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold. With the trailer finally being released, let’s see what all we know about the upcoming series:

Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Date

Obi Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be premiered only on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer

The trailer opens to the desert landscape of the planet Tatooine which gives a lot of Egyptian vibes where Obi-Wan is living in hiding while protecting young Luke Skywalker from the Darth Vader and the Force. Then come the iconic operatic “Duel of the Fates” music which was last used during obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader’s last duel in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). The music can be a hint that the duo might come face to face once again even though Darth Vader has been completely missing from the released trailer.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Plot

The upcoming series is a sequel to the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), where Palpatine initiated Order 66 and ordered clone troopers to kill their leading Jedis and rest would be taken care of by Anakin Skywalker who fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader. Vader is under the impression that he killed his pregnant wife and acts in rage, however, his wife gave birth to twins Luke and Leia and then died. Luke was taken by Obi-Wan to Tatooine to his uncle and aunt and Leia was adopted by Bail and his wife on the planet Alderaan.

Now the present storyline of Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after these events. Obi-Wan Kenobi survived Order 66 and now keeps an eye on young Luke Skywalker while the Inquisitors work day in and day out to completely wipe out Jedi existence.
