A high school setting in a Korean drama is not at all a new thing. Korean writers have tried all the genres like rom-com, thriller, action, crime, and even a zombie apocalypse in this specific setting and undoubtedly aced it.
However, what’s there to notice is these dramas are majorly focused on the life of the students and have been told from their perspective. And the teachers and people of school administration become the background characters. Where one side of the same setting has been under the spotlight for so long, the other has clearly been overlooked and especially when there are a lot of possibilities to go about it.
So to bridge that gap, tvN came up with Black Dog: Being a Teacher to explore the side of the teachers in a high school setting. Directed by Hwang Joon-hyeok, the series follows Ko Ha-neul who gets appointed as a temporary teacher at Daechi High School. The drama is all set to hit Netflix next month and here’s everything to know about Black Dog: Being a Teacher:

Black Dog: Being a Teacher Season 1 Plot
The story follows Ko Ha-neul who aspires to be a teacher after one of her own teachers saved her life back in her school days. Since her high school days, she just wishes to teach, to help the younger generation figure things out for themselves. For that, she joins Daechi High School which is a cut-throat place and comes with its own challenges.
The drama deals with less-talked issues like work politics, conflicts among co-workers, massive pressure on students, hyped-up importance of getting into prestigious colleges, and flaws in the education system which get overlooked at a huge level.
