NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Release Date: When will it begin airing on CBS?

As of writing this, we can confirm to the readers that the potential release date for the third season hasn’t been disclosed, as the final episode of NCIS: Hawai’i Season 2 ended a few weeks ago on May 22, 2023, which makes it way too early to disclose this information. Moreover, the NCIS: Hawai’i renewal for the new season was confirmed earlier this year in February 2023, which means it will take time for the crew to even begin production this month alone.

Hence, there is no chance that the new season of NCIS: Hawai’i will return in June 2023!

On the bright side, CBS has recently confirmed their 2023-2024 primetime schedule which highlights the broadcast schedule of the third season, which is set to arrive in the fall of 2023, with September or October being the most likely release window with the same time slot of every Mondays at 10/9c on the CBS network and Paramount Plus. Even though this is a great update, we urge the fans to wait patiently, stream the whole series if they haven’t already, and hope for the best outcome!

Take a look at the official announcement as shared by CBS on Twitter, below:

NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Plot: What to expect?

Not much has been revealed about the plot of the upcoming season as it is way too early for the network to reveal such crucial plotlines which can lead to spoilers. But it is certain that the series will expand on its basic premise which follows:

“The world’s most successful television series continues on the seductive shores of Hawai’i as the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor takes command. She and her team balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security, and the mysteries of the island itself. This NCIS: Hawai’i team is a skilled mix of mainland transplants who’ve relocated to the tranquility of the Pacific and wizened locals who know their mahalo from kapu.”

The third season is also expected to pick up right after the cliffhanger of the second season finale episode, “Dies Irae,” in which the viewers got to see that when a figure Jane encountered during her time as an officer with the CIA reappears, she and her colleagues seek help to apprehend a killer who’s threatening to destroy everything she has built; with Jane receiving assistance from Sam Hanna of the OSP team of NCIS: Los Angeles. With tough and regretful decisions made, the NCIS: Hawai’i team is facing some major changes that they are yet to know.

Take a look at the official promo of the final episode to recap the events that have happened so far. In case you haven’t streamed the series, it will help you get a gist of the ongoing storylines and character arcs that have captured the interest of the audience for so long!

NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Cast: Who will return?

The main cast members from the previous season who are expected to return include Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant, Ronda Kahana Williams as young Jane Tennant, Alex Tarrant as Kai Holman, Noah Mills as Jesse Boone, Yasmine Al-Bustami as Lucy Tara, Jason Antoon as Ernie Malik, Tori Anderson as Kathrine Marie “Kate” Whistler, and Kian Talan as Alex Tennant.

On the other hand, LL Cool J will reprise the role of Sam Hanna from NCIS: Los Angeles as a recurring guest star in Season 3 of NCIS: Hawai’i. “All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season three,” executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber said in a statement.

“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together. We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!” Lachey added.

The recurring cast includes Enver Gjokaj as Captain Joe Milius, Mahina Napoleon as Julie Tennant, Julie White as Maggie Shaw, Sharif Atkins as Captain Norman ‘Boom Boom’ Gates, and Seana Kofoed as Commander (Dr.) Carla Chase. There can be some new additions to the cast, which will be revealed later. The series was created by Christopher Silber, Jan Nash, and Matt Bosack, who also serve as writers and executive producers, alongside Larry Teng, who directed multiple episodes of the show.
