all your answers.
It’s finally time to say goodbye to Devi and her gang, which is a bit bittersweet for the fans who have watched the show for the last four seasons since its inception! Earlier, many viewers were unsure and wanted to know if the show would be renewed or canceled in the future for additional seasons.
Now, it is confirmed, because if you have been keeping up with the series, then you’ll know that the show creators have said that the show was always planned to end sooner than you think. There is no doubt in our minds that if you’re a die-hard fan who has spent so much of their own time watching the episodes over the years, you might be guessing why the decision to end the show was made!
If you’re wondering the same thing, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve compiled a quick summary of everything you need to know about the current status of the series. Here’s everything we know about Netflix’s Never Have I Ever Season 5.
Never Have I Ever: Why is the show not renewed for a fifth season?
The main reason for the show not returning for a fifth season is simple: The overall story has come to an end, which makes it abundantly clear that the show will not return for another season!
The good thing is that it didn’t end prematurely by getting canceled. The show got the chance to complete the overall plot, and we think that it ended at the right time without dragging it out any further. The trials and tribulations of senior year, college conundrums, identity crises, and crushes that Devi and her gang experienced were good enough for the story to progress and leave the audience with a positive note that kept “the spirit of childhood and teenage years” alive for the entire four seasons.
We are aware that the fans will sincerely miss this series because both audiences and reviewers all around the world gave it generally positive reviews. The comedy-drama television series has been acclaimed for shattering Asian stereotypes and has been called a watershed event, especially for South Asian representation in Hollywood. It was a feel-good show filled with twists and turns, drama, and emotional moments, which the fans loved!
So, if you ever miss these characters, then we suggest that you binge-watch the entire franchise right on Netflix in order to reminisce about the plot that makes the show worth watching!
Never Have I Ever Season 4: What is the final season about?
In the final season, Sherman Oaks High’s most unpredictable honors student has a little surprise for you!
At the end of Season 3, Devi had seemingly gotten over her crush on Paxton and moved on to her option B (Ben) to whom she lost her V-card, as shown at the beginning of the Season 4 trailer while narrator John McEnroe says, “Oh hell, they seem awkward.” The story will pick up from here, and it’s fair to say that Devi has “a lot on her plate” in this final season, Fisher notes, and everyone is facing obstacles that make them reassess who they are.
“I think everything gets kind of tumbled upside down when they become seniors and Paxton’s off [at college],” she explains.
“The structure you’ve seen for the first three seasons shifts and so therefore the love triangle can get reignited again.” After living out her fantasy of dating Paxton in Season 3, Devi comes face-to-face with her lifelong dream of wanting to attend Princeton in Season 4. Further adding, “She and Ben are both laser-focused on these elite schools that they want to go to that they’ve been their annoying A-students for so long,” Fisher says.
“There’s a lot of figuring out what those things mean in terms of who they are, and what their worth is in [relation] to what college they get into.” But as far as Ramakrishnan is concerned, she was living her own dream playing out Devi’s storyline in Season 4. “I think all of my hopes and dreams that I would want for good old Devi have come true,” she says. Further adding, “I feel like if I said what I would want, I would just be telling you what happened.”
The main cast members include Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar, Poorna Jagannathan as Nalini Vishwakumar, Richa Shukla as Kamala Nandiwadal, Jaren Lewison as Ben Gross, Darren Barnet as Paxton Hall-Yoshida, Ramona Young as Eleanor Wong, Lee Rodriguez as Fabiola Torres, and John McEnroe as The Narrator. The guest star includes Benjamin Norris as Trent Harrison, Megan Suri as Aneesa Qureshi, Terry Hu as Addison, Michael Cimino as Ethan Morales, Ivan Hernandez as Andres Ramos, Jeff Garlin as Len, Genneya Walton as Ms. Thompson, Jade Bender as Blair Quan.
The show is created by executive producer Mindy Kaling, with Lang Fisher serving as co-creator, executive producer, showrunner, and writer. It is produced by Universal Television and executive produced by 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein and David Miner. While you are here also check out the official final trailer, which showcases, “More drama, more romance, and a new heartthrob? As the senior year has finally arrived, the question still lingers in the air: ‘Is Devi and her gang ready to face the future?'”
