Outlander Season 8: When will the last season premiere?

The production of the eighth and final season is assumed to begin later this year in Scotland. So, there is clearly a lot of time left, as the series is still in its pre-production stage, which takes time to approve before the star cast and film crew hit the ground. New updates about the series finale may also take more time to release since the ongoing writer strike has been a major factor in causing delays for production houses across various networks.

Hence, there is a chance that the final season’s release may be postponed; if it ever happens, it will be officially confirmed later by the network. Until we receive any acknowledgment, we speculate that the final season might be aiming to be released before the end of 2024 or even the beginning of 2025 if the strike concludes in the coming weeks, and then production will officially begin later this year after the break without causing any more delays.

We’ll just have to wait, hope for the best, and see what happens! *Finger’s Crossed*

Outlander Season 8: What to expect?

The eighth season of “Outlander” will consist of ten episodes, following an extended 16-episode Season 7, which is set to premiere on June 16, 2023. As the seventh season is still pending release on Starz, the network has restricted itself from releasing any information about the plotlines of the last season in order to avoid spoilers! The fans will have to wait for some time, maybe until the final episode of the new season airs, and then we’ll get some insight into the final chapter’s plot. The viewers will just have to make assumptions about the conclusion of the show’s overall story till then.

“For nearly a decade ‘Outlander’ has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz. “But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore this dynamic world and its origin story. We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Matthew, Maril, and Ronald and can’t wait to see where their alluring storytelling takes us next.”

Is there a prequel series in development?

Yes! A ten-episode first season of a prequel series titled, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” has been in development since February 2022, and the show will focus on Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian and Ellen Fraser. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is, at its heart, a love story. It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain,” said Roberts.

Further adding, “The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognize. Jamie and Claire’s TV story may be coming to an end with season eight, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on book ten. With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans.”
