There are some shows that capture the hearts of the audience in such a way that they leave them wanting more! One such dystopian television series created by Graham Yost based on the Wool series of novels by author Hugh Howey has done the same. Yes, you guessed it right: the recently released season one of “Silo” has grabbed the attention of Apple TV+’s loyal subscribers around the world.

Making it one of the best-received debuts on Apple TV+, the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an 87% approval rating with an average rating of 7.4/10 based on 53 critic reviews. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 75 out of 100 based on 20 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews.”

With such a great response, there is no doubt that the fans have started to assume if the series will be renewed for a second season or not. If you are wondering the same thing, then you have reached the right place! You’re not the only one speculating about the next chapter for Juliette Nichols. For your convenience, we have compiled all the latest updates that are currently known about Silo Season 2.

Silo Season 2: Will there be another season?

We know that the anticipation for the series’ renewal is all-time high, but we have to inform the readers that, as of writing this, no new updates relating to the series’ early renewal have been officially announced by Apple TV+. One of the reasons why the show hasn’t been renewed is that there are still three episodes left to air before the season ends on June 30, 2023, which makes it way too early to evaluate the accurate reception with respect to ratings and viewership for an early renewal.

Hence, it is understandable why the network hasn’t jumped at the opportunity to renew the show this soon. But, on the bright side, there seems to be hope as many reports indicate that the second season is in active development, which is quite exciting to learn about.

Especially when we consider that recently, author Hugh Howey stated, “You have to rely on the reception, the quality of the product, the faith in the studio, that you get to tell the rest of the story,” he said. “We left a lot out because we haven’t got to tell the entire saga yet. There are so many stages to this.” He added: “My sense is that if we try to tell all three books, the whole trilogy, it would probably take four seasons, possibly. But there’s a way to tell it in three, and those conversations are just always ongoing.”

Silo Season 2: Is it renewed or canceled?

On the other hand, we have noticed that the network tends to scrap a series after just one season due to some conflicts rising behind the scenes or because the show creators don’t see the vision of the series anymore, leading to less investment in the production of new episodes. Due to this, the network tends to cancel the show without investing larger budgets if it isn’t going forward as a collaborative effort.

Of course, there is nothing for the fans to be worried about just yet, as the current status of Silo Season 2 is neither here nor there, and at this moment anything can happen!

So, if the renewal isn’t announced in a few days, then there are chances that the network is still in the evaluation stage of the show’s performance in order to get another season greenlit, which might take about two or three months. Until then, the fans should stay patient and hope for the best if the network agrees to renew the series for additional seasons because, just like the fans, we aren’t ready for this live adaptation of a science fiction dystopian world created by Graham Yost to end abruptly.

Silo Season 2: If renewed, when will the new season be released?

If the renewal does happen in the coming months, then we can expect the second season to commence filming sometime later this year, as many reports suggest that the series pre-production is currently scheduled to begin in September 2023 in Hertfordshire, UK, and is likely to begin filming in December 2023 or early 2024. Due to this, the potential release date for the new season will land on the same schedule, around 2024 or even 2025.

After filming is finished, post-production will reportedly take place in Toronto. Though we would like to highlight that the official filming schedule has yet to be revealed, this update helps to give an insight into the release of the show, whether the show creators want to keep the tradition of year gap’s between the seasons, which is possible once the ongoing writer’s strike is resolved and the production can begin effectively.

Right now, this is just mere speculation, and nothing has been confirmed, as everything absolutely depends on the renewal confirmation by the Apple TV+. So, the fans need to be patient and stream the prior episodes to stay up-to-date with the plotlines.

Silo Season 2: What to expect?

Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built, and any who tries to find out faces fatal consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles into a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

Since the series is based on the Wool series of novels by author Hugh Howey, the creators of the show have a lot of source material left for the series to continue for another season. The series, which started back in 2011 with the short story “Wool”, was later published together with four sequel novellas as a novel with the same name. Along with Wool, the series consists of Shift, Dust, three short stories, and Wool: The Graphic Novel.

So, there is a possibility that the creators will opt to develop the story further by taking the novels into consideration. Maybe not in the exact order, but incorporating plotlines from the books to make the story captivating and not confusing for those who haven’t read the novels. The next season may include elements from the second and third books.

The second book is Shift, which is a prequel to the Wool arc and consists of books 6 through 8: Legacy, Order, and Pact.

On the other hand, the third book, Dust, is the final arc of the series and is contained in a single book of the same name. It concludes the stories begun in Wool and Shift. We think that turning this book series into a popular TV trilogy will be an ideal way to tell the story, which the viewers will be highly invested in for years to come!
