Virgin River Season 5: What is the official release date?

Sadly, despite being renewed last year with filming concluding on November 21, 2022, there has been no official announcement regarding the premiere date, and the fans are now getting impatient about when they can expect to see their favorite characters back on screen. Despite the lack of updates, the cast and crew recently came forward to shed some light on the subject of the potential release window for the new season!

We are happy to inform you that the series will definitely return on Netflix this year, with the release window confirmed to be set for the 2023–24 fall streaming season! We know it’s a bit disappointing that the series isn’t slated for the summer season, but if you look at the timeline, it makes sense why its release has been delayed due to the hectic post-production stage, which can sometimes take up to months before making the final product, which is ideal for the viewers and the creators.

Our best prediction is that Virgin River Season 5 will likely premiere between September 2023 and November 2023, which is great for the fall streaming season and would enable fans to get a headstart in advance by adding the series to their wishlist and begin binge-watching all the new episodes as soon as they are published on Netflix. In conclusion, the charming little town of Virgin River will welcome us back whenever the time is right.

Virgin River Season 5: What is the season about?

With lots of drama in store for our favorite people, Season 5 is sure to take up where Season 4 left off!

Fans will get to know if Jack and Mel will truly go down the aisle after Jack pops the question in the Season 4 finale. Or will they face unforeseen difficulties that put theirs happily ever after in jeopardy? Charmaine’s pregnancy is developing, but is Jack really the biological father of the twins, as she claims? The burgeoning relationship between Brie and Mike, Muriel’s challenges with aging and health concerns, and whatever is going on between Preacher and Paige are all ongoing stories.

“What you can expect from Season 5 is a lot of answers to the questions you have been waiting for,” executive producer and writer Erin Cardillo told Tudum at a set visit last year. Hope’s recovery, Doc’s diagnosis, the Paige situation, Brie and Brady’s relationship — they’re all going to be addressed. Executive producer and writer Richard Keith also promised Netflix Tudum on the same set visit, quote, “There’s some new characters coming to Virgin River this season that will mix things up a bit.”

“Season 5 is going to continue to stay true to what fans have loved about the show from the beginning; it feels like a community that we all belong to and that we’re all a part of, it’s very comforting, it gives you hope, and I think all of that is stuff that people can’t get enough of these days,” Netflix’s Head Of Drama, Development Jinny Howe told Deadline. “I think what’s going to be interesting is to see this universe continue to grow and expand and to see new characters, other characters return. A lot of that was set up in the Season 4 finale but it’s going to be really exciting to see all of that come to a head in Season 5. And some of the soap that’s going to come out of these new complex tensions and triangles.”

Until we finally see the new season, speculating on this is all we can rely on, and we know that waiting is always the hardest part, but great things come to those who wait, and Virgin River Season 5 will surely be worth it!

Virgin River Season 5: Where to stream the series?

All four seasons of this romantic drama streaming television series are available exclusively on Netflix, with other series of the same genre also accessible on the streaming platform with a range of membership options. The video quality and the number of screens you can use to stream Netflix simultaneously depend on the package you choose. The basic membership starts at $9.99/month, and the standard membership starts at $15.49/month at no additional cost with any of their services.

We would also like to mention that no trailer has been released, as it seems way too early to begin the promotional tour, which usually starts once the premiere date draws near. Until then, we urge the fans to check out the fourth season, which ended with Mel and Jack finally receiving the results they’ve been waiting on; Lizzie organizes a send-off for Ricky before speaking to Denny about his secret. The fourth season holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average rating of 7/10.

Virgin River: Is the series renewed for Season 6?

In May 2023, ahead of the fifth season premiere, the network officially confirmed that the series was renewed for a sixth season as an early pickup!

Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head Of Drama, also addressed the prospects for Virgin River’s future plans, quoting: “I think we definitely see more longevity and growth with the show,” she said. Further adding, “As long as the audience asks for it and shows up — and I think we see with Season 4 that the fandom is very strong and growing in many places as well — it feels like based on what we’re seeing with Season 4 and the anticipation for Season 5 that there is a lot more storytelling to offer us.”
