Only Murders in the Building Season 3: Is it premiering in June?
If you have been following all the latest updates, then you’ll know that the show, which is created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, was ordered by Hulu back in July 2022, with filming for the season beginning earlier this year in January and concluding a few weeks ago. So, the next season will take time to complete post-production and follow in the footsteps of its predecessors, hence making any hopes for the series return in June 2023 impossible!
Even though this is a bit of a disheartening update, we have some other updates that will lighten up your mood! Despite not being a part of Hulu’s June lineup, the series will return sooner than you think!
Yes, it’s true! During Disney’s upfront presentation last month, it was officially confirmed that the series will debut this summer season on Tuesday, August 8, 2023! The release date was also confirmed by Steve Martin, who casually dropped the update during his tour showing You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today!, quoting, “Catch the new season on August 8,” which was followed by Short responding, “Our show is like Steve trying to pee — it streams for 33 minutes.”

Only Murders in the Building Season 3: What to expect?
Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one!
When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building that stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize that a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.
Not much has been revealed about the upcoming season’s plot, but to give some hints about the next chapter in the beloved trio’s life as true crime podcasters and murder solvers is about to change, as the show will continue the plot from the cliffhanger of the second season’s finale episode, “I Know Who Did It,” in which the viewers got to see that one year has passed since any murder and the trio is on the opening night of a Broadway play that Oliver directed, as Mabel awaits the performance, to begin with, Charles-Hayden’s new girlfriend Joy (Andrea Martin) in the audience.
But before the performance starts, Charles-Hayden engages in an intense conversation with Ben Glenroy, the show’s protagonist, who is played by unexpected guest star Paul Rudd and who will be back for Season 3. Paul Rudd tries to deliver his lines as the curtain rises but collapses and passes away. Making Ben the third season’s new murder victim and the mystery that has to be solved. Charles-Hayden is the first person on stage to assist Ben, and he will undoubtedly be considered a suspect. It’s important to note that Ben had an odd cough before speaking with Charles-Hayden.
Recently, in a new interview with Backstage, Martin Short remained tight-lipped about the plot of “Only Murders” Season 3, saying, “I’m not saying anything, you bastard.” But it is pretty much clear that the season centers on the sudden onstage death of Broadway actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd). Beyond describing this new whodunit as “more ambitious and exciting than any of [the previous ones],” Short only feels comfortable discussing “the Meryl Streep of it all.”

Only Murders in the Building Season 3: What did the co-creator say about the next season?
In an interview with Deadline, series co-creator John Hoffman also provided some details about Ben’s interaction with Charles-Haden just before the latter passed away on stage, quote:
“The events on stage take place after we time jump one year, which is exciting for the show because it’s a little bit of a fun reset. We view Season 1 and Season 2 as sister seasons, so for the characters, it feels like they have some breathing room and we can catch up to them and learn what’s been happening in that year. To then be thrown into a new mix like this with a new group of people around the theater and the production of Oliver’s dream show and all of that. It’s starting to feel very exciting for a season to go towards,” he said.
“But more than that, the tease that is teed up between Charles and Ben is what we’re going to reveal in Season 3,” he continued. Further adding, “There is very sort of pointed things that Charles is saying to Ben. It’s clear that there’s huge tension between these two actors for their Broadway opening and the source of that will be revealed in Season 3. There are things being said by Charles like, ‘I know what you did,’ and ‘Stay away from her.’ All of that is a tee-up to where we’re going next season. If there’s one thing to hold onto here is ‘her identity.'”
That’s a wrap on Season 3 🎬 Thank you to our incredible cast and crew for bringing this season to life. We can’t wait for everyone to see it! #OMITB pic.twitter.com/pdsimIMSE3
