As the curtain falls on the second season, anticipation for Bridgerton’s new chapter is rising high! Here is everything we know so far about Bridgerton Season 3.
It looks like the newly released historical drama limited series, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix, which is a prequel spin-off of the original Netflix series Bridgerton, wasn’t enough for the fans, and they have been getting more impatient about getting their hands on the much anticipated third season as quickly as possible!
We don’t blame them for their curiosity to know about what new scandal the creators have in store for us, especially when the third season focuses on Penelope and Colin’s relationship, which has grabbed more attention as it is one of the most talked about couples among the loyal fans that they have been waiting for to happen since the first season!
But after a wait of about three months, many are wondering whether we are getting a big weekend surprise in the form of new details. We hate to break it that the fans have to leave disappointed since the weekend seems to be a dry one for the Bridgerton fans. For any new information, we would have to wait, at least, for two months, if not more since Season 2 premiered only recently and Netflix usually takes a few months’ time before teasing any new details.
However, if you are wondering what all the latest information has currently been disclosed about the third season, then you have reached the right place to know it all! We at Web News Observer have compiled a list of all the captivating updates as revealed by the show creators and crew about the chapter in this sweeping tale of love and society in Regency-era England.

Bridgerton Season 3: What is the filming status?
The production of the third season began principal photography in July 2022 and wrapped earlier this year, around March 2023. Since then, it is a bit unfortunate to report that the show’s current status is unknown and has been kept under wraps pretty nicely, which is commendable to avoid any potential spoilers for the new season’s exact plotlines, which the creators have kept as a big revealing surprise, which we can’t wait for see!
Right now, it seems like the post-production stage is still going on, as it usually takes a few more months to finish, which involves the hectic workload of completing the editing, audio recording, etc., among other tasks, in order to make these upcoming episodes, perfect, hence leading to a delayed release on Netflix. Of course, this is just speculation, and the fans should wait and keep a closer eye on the social media handles to know about all the latest details.
Bridgerton Season 3: What is the potential release date?
If we look at the previous release’s pattern, then we can predict that the upcoming season might be setting up for a mid-to-late 2023 release, which may be ideal for the winter streaming season or even an early 2024 release!
Maybe the creators don’t want to release another Bridgerton-related content for a while, especially when you consider Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was released a few months ago on May 4, 2023, and it still has relevance by maintaining the top spot in the Global Weekly Top 10 in many regions from time to time.

Bridgerton Season 3: What do we know so far about the new season?
The third season will follow Quinn’s fourth novel, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” which will focus on Penelope and Colin’s friendship turning into one of the best romantic relationships!
The season will continue after Season 2’s Featherington Ball. Penelope is left heartbroken after overhearing Colin say to a group of bachelors that he would never court her… But Penelope is moving away from her crush on Colin and is determined to find herself a husband who’ll allow her the independence to continue her work as Lady Whistledown. But Colin quickly realizes that he’s losing his long-time friend and wants to win her back. He then offers to help Penelope improve her confidence to better attract a proposal.
Once Colin’s lessons start to work a little too well, he’ll have to grapple with the possibility that his feelings for Penelope aren’t strictly platonic. Penelope’s falling out with Colin’s little sister Eloise Bridgerton (Jessie) – who will find an unlikely new friend in Season 3 – further complicates the Polin matter. This is different from how the books are supposed to be read because book 3 is about Benedict Bridgerton’s courtship and marriage, while book 4 is about Penelope and Colin’s romance.
So, their story has been adapted as a series before the third season is exciting as their bond has been kind of hinted at since the inception of the show, which turns into Bridgertons first friends-to-lovers trope! Nicola Coughlan also mentioned to Netflix Tudum, that the pair is “the Ross and Rachel” of Bridgerton, adding, “But Penelope is the Ross. She’s the one secretly harboring the love for him.” Luke Newton also wants to see another side to his character. “I’m hoping that he has sort of a more sensitive side to him,” Newton added.
“I love that we are exploring a relationship that so many people have had, where you form a friendship and you get to know each other down to the core. Then it sparks something from there.”
Moreover, the main official synopsis from the first lines of the pilot episode titled, Out of the Shadows states, “Dearest gentle reader, we’ve been apart for far too long. At last, London’s smart set has made its return, and so too has this author. As the season begins the question on everyone’s minds is, of course, which newly-minted debutante will shine the brightest? The crop this year appears to be rather dazzling indeed, unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light.”
Bridgerton Season 3 Cast: Who will return?
Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton will be the main stars, along with Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, who were confirmed to return for the third season as Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton, exploring their married life and responsibilities as heads of the eponymous family. Along with Adjoa Andoh, Luke Newton, Jessica Madsen, Harriet Cains, Florence Hunt, Polly Walker, Emma Naomi, Luke Thompson, Hugh Sachs, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Julie Andrews, and Martins Imhangbe to be returning.
Hannah Dodd was cast to replace Ruby Stokes as Francesca Bridgerton in the third season the following month. Due to scheduling conflicts, Stokes had to leave the show. Chandran will not return as Edwina for the rest of the season. Three new male actors have signed on for the new season: Daniel Francis (Stay Close) has joined the cast as Marcus Anderson; Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling; and James Phoon (Wreck) as Harry Dankworth. Hannah New, who will play the young widow Lady Tilley Arnold, as a firebrand widow.
Widowed at an early age, she enjoys the privileges and power that come with being at the helm of her former husband’s estate, living life on her own terms with financial independence and sexual freedom. Lastly, we know what you’re wondering: whether or not Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings in Season 1, will return or not? Sadly, he will not be reprising his role in Season 3. Moreover, back in January 2023, Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, also confirmed she would not be returning but could reprise her role ‘potentially in the future.’
Lastly, Jess Brownell will replace Van Dusen as writer and showrunner for the third and fourth seasons.
Bridgerton Season 3 Episodes: Where to stream?
The upcoming season will have a total of eight episodes with an average runtime of 57 to 72 minutes, which will drop at once, so you can binge it instantly! On the other hand, the episode titles and synopsis of the series are not released by the network as of May 2023. The network will publish those details when the episodes are due to air on the streaming service. So, we would advise fans to be patient while waiting for these updates, which will be issued in the coming days.
The two seasons, along with the spin-off series, are available exclusively on Netflix, with other series of the same genre also accessible on the streaming platform with a range of membership options. The video quality and the number of screens you can use to stream Netflix simultaneously depend on the package you choose.
