There are also lots of classic favorites as well as newer Netflix originals to select from. So put a movie on, crank up the volume, and snuggle in every time they do anything swoon-worthy.

Your Place or Mine (2023)

Sometimes you discover that the thing you’ve been looking for was actually right in front of you all along, and Aline Brosh McKenna’s filmmaking debut film Your Place or Mine is precisely that. Long-distance best friends Debbie Dunn (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter Coleman (Ashton Kutcher) trade cities and get a taste of one another’s everyday challenges, reminiscent of classic romantic comedies like When Harry Met Sally, and You’ve Got Mail. Debbie chases a goal in New York while Peter looks after Debbie’s son in Los Angeles. When Debbie falls for the suave and gorgeous Theo Martin, portrayed by Jesse Williams, their entire relationship is reframed in ways that both Debbie or Peter could have predicted. Your Place or Mine has a lot of heart and will also bust your gut with the incredible cast of comedians sprinkled throughout.

Good on Paper (2021)

Good on Paper is a romantic comedy written and starring comic Iliza Shlesinger about a stand-up comedian named Andrea (Shlesinger) who discovers Dennis (Ryan Hansen), a man who looks to tick all her boxes. Good on Paper, Kimmy Gatewood’s directorial debut, is a charmingly adorable notion inspired by a terrible real-world episode in Schlesinger’s life. Good on Paper, adapted into an uncomfortable romantic comedy, is a well-produced hour-and-a-half brimming with warmth for the whole cast, which stars Margaret Cho icon and GLOW veteran Britney Young. Good on Paper makes the leap from stage to cinema by embracing the unusual and finding humor in sadness and discomfort.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)

Many people did not dig towards Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga predicting one of the year’s most emotional and romantic films, but Rachel McAdams should never be underestimated. With the goofy-yet-poignant Netflix Original comedy featuring alongside Will Ferrell a couple of Icelandic singers with ambitions of winning the Eurovision Song Contest, the Mean Girls and Game Night actress demonstrate once again that she’s one of the most underestimated comic actors of her time. The huge shocks here are the fantastically catchy original tunes and the startling sensitivity between the chuckles that might even leave you with tears in your eye and love in your heart.
