What new updates about our favorite elite Navy SEALs are released? Here is everything we know so far about SEAL Team Season 7.
As the summer 2023–24 television season is finally in full swing on Paramount+, the burning question on everyone’s mind is: will we get new updates about SEAL Team Season 7 in August or not? As rumors swirl and anticipation builds, fans are hopeful that August will bring exciting news about the upcoming season whether it’s unexpected plot twists, intense action sequences, or character developments that leave us wanting more! The network has also started to drop hints about the much-awaited SEAL Team Season 7, which is going to keep the legacy of the show alive!
This is quite an amazing achievement that only a few well-established series have been able to achieve over the years around the world! With such massive hype and numerous expectations surrounding the series, there is no doubt that the fans have started to bombard their social media handles with queries relating to its release date, plot, cast, and production status, among other details that are usually kept under wraps until the official announcements are made. If you are speculating about the same, then, especially for you, we have listed all the latest updates that have been released right here.
Firstly, we want you to not worry about anything as the month of August 2023 is just starting and there are hardly any new updates being released by the network, which is quite a relief for the fans as it seems like the crew and cast have taken their annual break before the filming of the season can resume later this year once the 2023 WGA and 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes reach an agreement in order to declare the potential release window of the new season, which is quite normal for such a major production to disclose once the situation concludes with a favorable outcome.
As the ongoing actor and writer’s strike have played a major role in the network’s decision not to release any major details beforehand!
Recent reports have confirmed that the production of the new episodes will come to a standstill for weeks if the issue isn’t resolved in the coming weeks, which will inevitably lead to major networks stopping their work, causing a major shift in their series release for the 2023–24 broadcast season, which might be rescheduled for next year! Until there is an official statement or press release issued by the network, we can only make predictions about the show’s future based on previously released updates, which we have listed below:
Renewal Status: After much anticipation, back in January 2023, the military drama television series, which was created by Benjamin Cavell, was renewed for a seventh season after the sixth season ended with a great reception around the world. Also, check out the renewal announcement as shared by the show’s Twitter handle, quoting: “Target acquired: Season 7 of #SEALTeam is coming to #ParamountPlus.”

Release Date: Right now, it looks like the exciting news for the renewal of the show for a seventh season earlier this year was short-lived, as it sadly has been overshadowed by the ongoing 2023 Writers Guild of America strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which has completely put a deadlock in the production and writing of the show for the new episodes as many writers along with the actors have stopped their work until a proper resolution regarding their compensation has been made, and the situation doesn’t seem to come to an end anytime soon!
As a result, there is no way the show will premiere the new season in 2023, which makes one wonder if the series will return this year at all or not. For your consideration, we think predicting anything about the show’s official release date as of now is way too early, as no confirmation for a revised fall schedule has been issued by the Paramount+ network. But the chances of the series making its comeback sometime in 2024 seem more likely to happen because the filming, which usually takes months to complete, hasn’t yet commenced.
With a few months left in the year, the possibility of the show’s official return in 2023 is bleak!
We assume the release window will be changed just like other competing networks, who have also shifted their fall schedule in order to avoid any unnecessary delays in production, which, if it happens, will be confirmed by the show creators. Hence, this is just pure conjecture and anything relating to its premiere date is subject to change, which will be acknowledged by the network in the coming months. Until then, if there is any confirmation, the fans will have to be patient and keep a close eye on the social media handles of the SEAL Team by following them to get all the latest updates.
Production Status: The midseason break between two seasons is typical for a show of this caliber in order to wrap up its meticulous pre-production on schedule to commence once the filming begins, especially when the current writer’s and actors’ strikes have caused a major delay in its release as the production of new episodes has yet to begin. The filming will take place after a few months once the strikes reach an agreement in order to complete it before the shoot effectively begins later. So, right now the next season’s production status is neither here nor there.
Episode Count: The seventh season is expected to include a total of 10 episodes with an average runtime of 43–49 minutes, just like the sixth season. The episode count has been reduced because initially, SEAL Team was a broadcast drama, but after being picked up by Paramount+, all those sets must be kept year-round and are inactive for more than half the time, so the overall episode count has been set at ten every season. The distribution of financing must be well planned out to produce the greatest episodes that the viewers actually deserve since all productions scrutinize their finances.
Streaming Options: SEAL Team Season 7, along with the prior seasons, will most likely be available on all prior platforms that have the rights to stream the series, as well as on-air on FuboTV or Paramount. Moreover, all the seasons of SEAL Team are currently available to watch for free on the CBS platform. The series is also available to rent or buy on Google Play, iTunes, Vudu, and Amazon Instant Video, based on the viewers’ location, with preferred membership plans that the users can choose from. Canada’s Global TV premiered the show at the same time as the United States premiere.

SEAL Team Season 7 Plot: What can the fans expect?
The series will definitely follow in the footsteps of the prior seasons and be true to the theme that, as per the official logline, states:
“Failure isn’t an option for the new Navy SEALs, and that kind of pressure can take a toll on the members of the special operations forces’ most elite unit. This team – which includes Jason, the group’s intense leader, and Ray, Jason’s longtime confidant, along with loyal soldier Sonny and SEAL hopeful Clay – trains, plans, and executes some of the most dangerous, high-stakes missions and deploys for clandestine missions around the globe at a moment’s notice. While serving their country is a worthy and rewarding cause, it can put a strain on the SEALs and their families, causing the guys to look out for one another in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds, both on and off the job.”
Moreover, when the seventh season’s renewal announcement was officially made by Paramount+, there was no mention of the SEAL Team stand-alone movie, which was announced last February, just days after the Season 6 renewal. Since then, there have been no details revealed about the greenlighted project beyond its creative team, star/executive producer Boreanaz, executive producer Christopher Chulack, and executive producer/showrunner Spencer Hudnut.
So, it is pretty much safe to say that SEAL Team Season 7 would follow the events in the last season, with no movie between them, which is a great heads up for the fans who were curious to know about the project’s stays. Lastly, as mentioned above, the next season will pick up where Season 6 ended, “Fair Winds and Following Seas.” In the final episode, the viewers got to see a poignant scene where Jason (Boreanaz) is getting reprimanded for speaking publicly about his TBI. Then everyone on his team steps up, sharing their own traumatic experiences and putting Bravo’s future in limbo.
“We look forward to bringing ‘SEAL Team’ fans even more of the series’ poignant storylines and thrilling missions with the upcoming seventh season,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming. Further adding, “The series continues to evolve and grow its audience. It is a great example of the types of programming that we see resonate with our subscribers.”
“They are once again in jeopardy but most importantly united, and when Bravo steps up for each other, they usually get themselves out of these situations,” showrunner Spencer Hudnut told TV Insider. “What [that ending] does is it kind of tips everything on its head a little bit. But at the end of the day, these guys operating, these guys being out in the field is usually the engine of the show. It’s really, can they get back to that?”
“We’ve done things like that in the past. I just think part of this decision was that just to finish Max’s work this season was such a struggle,” he explained. “The idea of being able to plan ahead and figure that out just seems hard, but we’ll never say no to anything. Clay’s legacy will live on within the show. And yeah, if there’s an opportunity where we could do something like that, I’d be all for it because he’s such a huge part of the show.”

SEAL Team Season 7 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?
The main cast from the sixth season who are expected to return in the seventh season are as follows:
David Boreanaz as Jason Hayes, Neil Brown Jr. as Ray Perry, AJ Buckley as Sonny Quinn, Toni Trucks as Lisa Davis, and Raffi Barsoumian as Omar Hamza. The recurring cast includes Jessica Paré as Mandy Ellis, Alona Tal as Stella Baxter, Parisa Fakhri as Naima Perry, Jusitin Melnick as Brock Reynolds, Judd Lormand as Eric Blackburn, Mike Wade as Wes Soto, Tyler Grey as Trent Sawyer, and Dita The Hair Missile Dog as Cerberus.
On the other hand, there can be some new additions and removals from the cast as some changes have already been confirmed that the next season will not feature Max Thieriot (Special Warfare Operator First Class Clay Spenser, a.k.a. Bravo 6/6B) after the character was killed off last season. Lastly, SEAL Team is produced by CBS Studios and executive produced by Spencer Hudnut, Christopher Chulack, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Mark Owen, and Boreanaz.
Lastly, the series is distributed worldwide by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

SEAL Team Season 7 Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SEAL Team movie still in development?
According to Deadline, SEAL Team is a stand-alone movie that was announced just days after the Season 6 renewal. There have been no details revealed about the greenlighted project beyond its creative team, star/executive producer Boreanaz, executive producer Christopher Chulack, and executive producer/showrunner Spencer Hudnut. As per the report, the movie is not dead, but there has been no talk about it over the last year, and it appears to be on hold and not actively being developed right now.
Therefore, it is probably safe to assume that Season 7 will take place after the events of Season 6, with no movie in between.
Has the network released any official trailers for SEAL Team Season 7?
Unfortunately, the network has not released any new promos for the upcoming season, which will take some time after production starts to wrap up, which will take time to happen with the ongoing strikes. Moreover, the promotions usually begin a month or two before the official premiere, so there is still a lot of time left for marketing to begin.
In the meantime, check out the sixth season’s official trailer, which shows the pressures placed on the members of the Bravo Team, a sub-unit of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, the most elite organization of Navy SEALs, as they plan and undertake dangerous missions worldwide with little notice, and the burden placed on them and their families.
The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 70% based on 23 reviews, with an average rating of 5.66/10. On the other hand, Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 57 out of 100 based on 16 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews.” Take a look at the official trailer for SEAL Team Season 6 below:
