The moment Bridgerton dropped on Netflix, it took the internet by storm with its riveting plotline and its exquisite cast. Who would not choose to see it? Adapted by Shona Rhimes’ Shondaland Productions for Netflix, Bridgerton, for those unversed, is inspired by a series of eight novels written by Julia Quinn. Ever since Bridgerton season 2 hit the Netflix library, fans have been frustratingly anticipating season 3, especially to see their favorite characters on screen.

The romance drama follows the life of the Bridgerton family, which consists of widowed matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and her eight children, who are currently looking for marriage suitors in Regency England’s aristocratic society. The first season of Bridgerton, which premiered on December 25, 2020, covered the first daughter, Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) potential suitors that lead her to form connections with Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page).

The second season is based on the second book of the novel series, following the life of the eldest brother Anthony’s (Jonathan Bailey) romance with the naïve Kate Sharma, which will not fail to remind you of Darcy and Lizzy’s love story trope. As per the reports, the third season will predominantly focus on Colin and Penelope’s love story. Resultantly, we can expect Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan to reprise their respective roles.

In Bridgerton season3, Jonathan Bailey (Anthony, Claudia Jessie (Eloise), Luke Thompson (Benedict), Ruth Gemmel (Lady Violet Bridgerton), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), and Simone Ashley (Kate), are confirmed to return. That being said, we have some unfortunate news for you. There might be some characters who may not be featured in the upcoming installment of Bridgerton.

Unfortunately, Regé-Jean Page will reportedly not return in the third season of Bridgerton as the charming Simon Basset/Duke of Hastings as much as we want to. Even though he did not return for a second season, fans still hoped that he would return for a third season. The actor broke the news of his not returning via an Instagram post that featured him and Jonathan Bailey at Milan Fashion Week. The post is captioned with:

“The boys are back in town. (No, I’m not going back to the show btw – the papers made that one up.) But we had the best, and most stylish, catch-up I’ve had in a while over some truly excellent Italian coffee and sunshine.”

We would like to forewarn you, so you can prepare your heart to face what’s coming next. As per the reports, we speculate that not all the Sharma sisters will be featured in Bridgerton. Although Kate Sharma is confirmed to be in the new season, Charithra Chandran (Edwina) may not be coming back for the third season. In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Chandran said that she is open to coming back for the third season, however, she hadn’t heard anything back from the creative team. Later, in August 2022, Chandran told The Indian Express, that she will not be on the set for the third season since she is working on another project.

3. Daphne

Unfortunately, Phoebe Dyvenor will also not reprise her role as Daphne in the third season of Bridgerton. In January 2023, the actress shattered all hopes of her fans and announced that she would not becoming in the upcoming third season. The news was also later confirmed by Screenrant when they got the opportunity to interview Phoebe at the Sundance Film Festival. Be that as it may, this does not mean that she would not return in the future.

4. Marina

Ruby Baker, popular for her role as Marina, might not be back for Bridgerton season 3, owing to a couple of reasons. First, the creators of the show have not announced the arrival of her character for the third season. Secondly, the character did not possess much screen time in season 2. Her role was predominant in one episode, serving as a foil for Colin so that he could get some closure and move on in life. In the previous season, all the loose ends of her story tied up quite neatly.
