Loved This Is Us on Hulu? If yes, then these shows might be the best fit for you.
After six beautiful seasons full of love, warmth, and plenty of tear-jerking moments, the Pearsons’ story has come to an end. Whether we like the fact or not, This Is Us has ended after six seasons and the finale on May 24 marked the official ending of the show. The show might have ended but the Pearsons will always have a special place in our hearts. As Kevin said in Season 1, “I think that’s maybe the point of the whole thing. There’s no dying. There’s no you, or me, or them… it’s just us. And this sloppy, wild, colorful, magical thing that has no beginning, no end, that’s right here? I think it’s us.”
If you liked This Is Us, here are some other binge-worthy shows that you should try.
1. Parenthood (Amazon Prime)
The series is slightly similar to This Is Us and revolves around the Braverman clan, that consist of an older couple, their four children, and their families. The series is loosely based on the 1989 film of the same name. It is set in Berkeley, California on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay and follows the lives of three generations of the Braverman family. The story has plenty of emotional moments that will make you cry out loud and the cast is also amazingly talented, including Lauren Graham, Dax Shephard, Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Mae Whitman, and Craig T. Nelson! If you loved This Is Us, trust me you’re going to love this one too.
2. A Million Little Things (Hulu)
This is a family drama series that centers around the unexpected suicide of a member of a circle of close friends. The other friends, after the death of the member, finally realize that they need to start living life, all while dealing with the loss of their friend. The title is basically a reference to the saying, “Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things”. This series feels a lot like This Is Us. So, what’re you waiting for?
3. Brothers and Sisters (Hulu)
The series follows the lives of the wealthy Walker family members when the siblings had to unite in the wake of the death of family patriarch William Walker. His death reveals a number of secrets including the introduction of William’s mistress Holly Harper and her daughter Rebecca. The story follows the lives of these siblings who try to navigate their ways through various struggles and triumphs. The series is a must-watch for the fans of This Is Us.
4. Six Feet Under (HBO)
This is one of the most iconic dramas on HBO that focuses on the Fisher family, who run a funeral home in Los Angeles. The show deals with various issues such as interpersonal relationships, dysfunctional families, personal choices, and infidelity. After the sudden death of their father, brothers Nate and David are left to run the business together, which forces the family to reunite and solve their issues. Each episode of the series starts with a death and that sets the theme for each episode, as the characters try to think about their fortunes and misfortunes in such a way, that is related to death and its after-effects. If you like drama mixed with some emotional moments and awakenings, you have to try this one out.
5. Gilmore Girls (Netflix)
The list of the greatest family drama ever made is incomplete without this iconic story about the witty 32-year-old mother Lorelai Gilmore and her intellectual teenage daughter Rory Gilmore. The theme of this series is family and connection and how one tries to do everything possible for the person they love. It focuses on the ambitions of the mother-daughter duo and every struggle and conflict they have to bear for the achievement of those ambitions. If you are a fan of This Is Us, you will definitely like this one, and not to mention, that Milo Ventimiglia, who played the role of Jack Pearson in This Is Us, has a major role in the series as Rory’s bad-boy love interest Jess.
