Every one of us often goes to extreme heights to take care of our tresses, isn’t it? Be it using sulfate-free, organic shampoos, applying DIY hair masks, or getting hair spas every fortnight, we have done everything to get strong and shiny hair. However, most of us overlook one mistake that may damage our hair at an extreme level. Yes, we are talking about wet hair mistakes here that secretly cause a lot of damage which many of us are unaware of.

There are times when we come out after a hair wash and start combing to detangle them. However, it may cause serious damage to the hair. It is because hair follicles become weak when they are wet. So, combing them immediately after a shower will break them and lead to dry and dull hair.

Mentioned hereunder are some wet hair mistakes that you must avoid to protect your hair from further damage.

  • Combing wet hair

The hair is too weak after a wash and needs gentle care. So, if you are worried about your hair getting tangled after a wash, try combing it before taking your shower. You can apply light hair oil or serum and comb it using a wide-tooth comb. It will make the detangling process easier. However, you should not also wait for your hair to dry off completely before you start combing it. Otherwise, it will make your hair drier, and it will lose its luster.

  • Vigorous towel drying

As we mentioned earlier, the hair follicles are at their weakest when wet. So, even a gentle stroke on your hair tends to break them. So, you can imagine the amount of damage you are causing to your hair by vigorously drying it with a towel after taking shower. Instead, you can simply dab your hair with the towel and squeeze out the excess water.

  • Tying wet hair

You should never tie wet hair as it is one of the major causes of dandruff. We understand that it is impossible to keep your hair open all the time during summers, especially when they are wet. However, your tresses are vulnerable during this time, and tying your hair will cause your more misery by forming dents when you remove the hair tie later.

  • Using heat tools

At least wait for the water to drip out and then use your dryer in medium heat. It will at least help avoid burning your tresses and protect your hair from further damage.

  • Sleeping with dripping hair

You should avoid going to bed with wet hair. Otherwise, it may lead to extreme hair damage that you cannot even think of. From giving you a bad cold to hampering your immune system, going with dripping hair to your bad is the worst choice.

We never forget to take care of our skin. However, when it comes to taking care of our hair, we often tend to ignore it. However, with a bit of patience and consciousness, we can save our mane from further damage.
