We all are so busy in the hustle and bustle of our lives that we often forget to take care of ourselves. We forget that we don’t have to be tired all the time and should at least have a good bedtime routine as that is the only time when we actually take some rest. With work from home taking over most of us are stuck with extended working hours and never-ending calls and amid all this what we are losing is a peaceful sleep.
While most of us are aware of the importance of a good night’s sleep, we still unknowingly do some things that affect our quality of sleep. So, here is a list of some things you should do every day before you go to bed.
Relaxing and calming your mind before you go to bed is an important task. Going to bed with a lot of stress could be bad for your mental health. You really need to let all your stress off your chest before you hit the bed otherwise your subconscious mind would be still working even when you are asleep and you would have a restless sleep. You can even listen to some music or anything to help yourself meditate before your sleep.
2. Set a schedule for the next day
All of us must have noticed that we wake up with a better mindset when we have a schedule for the day as compared to the day when we don’t have any. So why not make a schedule for the next day before going to bed so that we have something that wakes us up in the morning, motivates us to get out of bed in the morning, and above all gets us into the bed at the right time first.
3. Read a book
Do you know that reading can help you in a lot of ways if you do it just before you are about to hit the bed? Only six minutes of reading can reduce your stress level by more than 50%. Other than this reading can also help in gaining knowledge and obviously builds your personality.
4. Keep your gadgets away
This may be one of the most difficult tasks you would have to do but trust us this habit of keeping your gadgets away from you for a while before going to bed can do wonders for you. You are in contact with your phone throughout the day so why can’t you just put them on do not disturb while you are asleep? You can and you should do it.
5. Reflect on our day
Reflecting on what you did in your day, what was worth it, and what wasn’t is important. These are some of the questions you should ask yourself before going to bed as it would help you realize where you want to get in life and where you actually are.
6. Stretch a little
In this busy life, we don’t usually get time to stretch our muscles, which is something extremely necessary, especially for the people who spend their day hunching over their computers or laptop. Therefore, it is advisable to practice some stretching exercises to relax your body before you hit the bed.
7. Write down some things you are grateful for
You should take care of your mental health and should always try and go to bed in a good mood. But do you know how can you make your mood good right before you hit your bed? Well, you can try writing down some things for which you are grateful in your life. This would make you appreciate your life and see the good in it automatically improving your mood.
