Curry Barker’s unnerving horror romance, Obsession, has left people obsessed.
The 26-year-old filmmaker’s wish has been granted as his debut film has recorded over $224 million worldwide becoming Focus Features’ highest-grossing film ever.
Obsession was already Focus’ top movie domestically at $151 million.
It has broke the record despite seeing a 7 percent dip in its fourth weekend with a mind blowing $25.6M.
The film has smoothly surpassed Focus’ previous top earner 2019’s Downtown Abbey which recorded $194.6M worldwide.
Obsession was made for just $750K and was acquired by Focus Features out of Toronto International Film Festival for $15M+. But who knew it would become Focus’ top movie ever.

With Obsession, which was filmed in just 26 days, Barker has made his swift entry into the list of Hollywood A-listers owing the title of one of the most-sought after directors in the industry.
Starring Inde Navarrette as Nikki and Michael Johnston as Bear, the film which starts off simple but soon takes an eerie turn with the One Wish Willow, Obsession is not just your another horror film.
Obsession has joined A24’s Blackroom in breaking records the box office with $212.6 million worldwide and becoming its highest grossing movie ever.
The twisted love story ends on a rather eerie note than what one would have normally imagined.
In short, the whole story follows Bear’s wish of making Nikki fall in love with him. But he rather ends up getting an obsession from Nikki that is far away from love.

Given the film’s supreme success, Barker already has plans of a sequel or an anthology series revolving around the One Wish Willow.
“I don’t think you’ll ever see a movie with these characters again, but it would be cool to expand this world with different characters,” Barked told Variety opening a possibility for another “Obsession”.
