Abbott Elementary Season 2 Time Slot
Abbott Elementary will premiere its second season at the 9 PM (ET) time slot on the ABC network. Abbott Elementary will be an anchor of the network’s Wednesday comedy block, replacing a reboot of The Wonder Years, which is being held until midseason.
Why did ABC renew Abbott Elementary for Season 2?
According to Deadline, “The half-hour, created, written and starring Brunson, is ABC’s No. 1 new comedy in two years in adults 18-49, and the season’s No. 1 comedy in adults 18-49, in a tie with CBS Ghosts, which also has received an early Season 2 renewal. Abbott Elementary’s December premiere/preview became the first ABC comedy debut to quadruple ratings after 35 days of multi-platform viewing. Then the January 4 time-slot premiere of the single-camera comedy amassed 9.0 million total viewers and a 2.93 rating in adults 18-49 in MP35, ABC’s strongest comedy telecast of new or returning series among 18-49 in nearly two years, since the April 8, 2020, series finale of Modern Family.”
Abbott Elementary Season 2 Plot
According to Entertainment Tonight, “Abbott Elementary Season 2 of the mockumentary-style comedy will focus on how the teachers of William R. Abbott Elementary, a fictional public school in Philadelphia with a primarily Black student body, unwind at home after a hard day’s work of beating the odds stacked against them to educate their students.”
Quinta Brunson, who created and stars as Janine Teagues in the series, didn’t give away too much about the second season’s main storylines, but she did give a clue that the season would be more concerned with the teacher’s families.”We’ll be going a little bit outside the school more,” Brunson told Entertainment Tonight, adding that, while some fans may not see it as a “big deal,” it was exciting for her to focus on the personal lives of the teachers at Abbott Elementary, especially after a debut season that was entirely devoted to their careers.
Abbott Elementary Season 2 Cast and Crew

Abbott Elementary Plot
The lives of teachers who work in underfunded schools are being documented by a documentary crew. One of the locations they have chosen to document is Willard R. Abbott Elementary School in Philadelphia, a largely black public school. The school’s conditions are poor, and few teachers stay more than two years. In a group of twenty teachers, just three survived past the first year: history teacher Jacob Hill and second-grade teacher Janine Teagues. Barbara Howard, a seasoned kindergarten instructor; Melissa Schemmenti; tone-deaf Ava Coleman, a recent hire as a substitute; and Gregory Eddie, a substitute teacher, are their coworkers.
Abbott Elementary Season 1: What happened in the finale episode?
Abbott Elementary Season 2 is anticipated to continue the storyline from the very last episode of the jam-packed 13 episodes of Season 1. The finale episode, Zoo Balloon, was released on April 12, 2022. The episode was projected to have been watched by 2.78 million people in the United States, which was directed by Randall Einhorn and written by Jordan Temple. In the episode, the viewers got to see that, Abbott Elementary takes their annual, year-end school trip to the Philadelphia Zoo with Tariq, Taylor, and Zach serving as chaperones.
Janine is unsure if she wants to leave Abbott and travel to New York with Tariq so that they may make an anti-drug album. When her favorite zoo animal retires from the zoo owing to old age, Barbara worries about her own future. Greg informs Janine that he will be working full-time at Abbott starting in the following academic year. In the end, Janine chooses not to travel to New York with Tariq and instead takes a “leave” from him.
