Aespa creates new record with 1.4 million sales of mini-album GIRLS

The girl group Aespa is creating records like no other, and how! Well, the band associated with SM Entertainment has become a million-seller now with their latest mini-album Girls. As per the record by the Circle Chart on July 14, 2022, Aespa’s album Girls recorded 1,426,487 sales copies in the first week since its release. With the same, Aespa has now become the first-ever K-pop girl group to achieve such a number in the very first week of album sales.

The official revelation

The girl group’s official Twitter handle also shared the good news with the fans and added a caption that reads, “aespa’s ‘Girls’ ranks first in K-pop girl group album first week sales! In the first week, they sold 1.42M album copies, becoming a ‘million seller’ and setting the first and highest daily record!”

Earlier records

Earlier, Aespa had recorded 1.61 million stock pre-orders for the mini-album Girls, which sold 806,891 copies on the first day of its sales, i.e., July 8, 2022. With this, the group has set a new record by becoming the first-ever female artist in the history of Hanteo to have reached such heights in the first week of sales. Previously, the same record was held by another K-pop girl group, BLACKPINK, and its album name was THE ALBUM.

Aespa’s comeback

Fans were earlier elated to know that the Aespa members would be making a comeback as the group made the grand announcement on June 1, 2022, at midnight KST. The girl group also surprised the fans by releasing a new song titled Illusion on the same day along with a lyric video. For the unversed, the song is a part of the mini album Girls itself.

High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022

The members of Aespa also attended the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022 on July 5. For the unversed, it is the main United Nations platform for sustainable development. The theme for this year was “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

Talking about Aespa, the group members took part in the event as the representatives of GenZ. All the members were present during the opening section of the said event. They also delivered a strong speech which is titled ‘Next Generation to the Next Level.’ The girl group also surprised the fans by performing the song Next Level at the same event. SM Entertainment, the agency associated with the group, had earlier announced the news on social media.
