With the release of only two episodes, the latest Star Wars spinoff on Disney+, ‘Ahsoka’ has secured an impressive No. 2 spot on debut among streaming originals on Neilsen’s charts. The sci-fi series, starring Rosario Dawson in the lead, was collectively watched for 829 million minutes in the United States for the week of August 21 to August 27.

Disney+ confirmed that the first episode achieved a global viewership of 14 million complete plays in less than a week, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Overall, ‘Ahsoka’ claimed the No. 5 position on the list while ‘Suits’ maintained the top spot, continuing its legacy. Nielsen believes that Disney’s scheduled viewing on streaming platforms resulted in Ahsoka’s high viewership.

Suits reigning at No. 1

‘Suits’ continued its legacy of being at the top for the 10th week with 2.66 billion minutes of viewing. The drama series did experience a 6% drop in its viewership in respect of the week prior. However, the ranking did not bulge. The series, starring Patrick J. Adams, is available on both Netflix and Peacock. The success could be credited to the cross-streamer distribution strategy. Moreover, ‘Suits’ first season garners up to 16% of the total viewerships, indicating that the show is still attracting fresh viewers.

HBO’s ‘Ballers’ at No. 7

A significant mention on the overall list is HBO’s American drama series ‘Ballers’, which debuted in the Top 10 of the first week after its launch on Netflix. Currently, it stands at No. 7 on the list despite suffering a 6% drop in viewership and garnering a total of 656 minutes this week. The series is still available on HBO Max, and its success on Netflix could be a possible approach in this era of streaming services.

‘Who is Erin Carter’ and ‘Bluey’

Another two series crossing the one billion mark are ‘Who is Erin Carter’ and ‘Bluey’. These series cater to vastly different audiences, with ‘Who is Erin Carter’ resonating with audiences over 50 while ‘Bluey’ is an under-5 crowd. Given Bluey’s growing popularity, it could surpass the current children’s favorite ‘Cocomelon’.

The Top 10 streaming titles, along with their minutes of viewing, are as follows:

  1. Suits (Netflix/Peacock), 2.66 billion minutes
  2. Who Is Erin Carter? (Netflix), 1.04 billion
