The feeling of being lost is often distressing. It makes one aloof and pulls them away from reality. What if you go randomly missing and are never going to meet your family? Would you want to be found? Who would come to find you? Over 600,000 people go missing in America alone every year, and not many are ever found again. There are various departments set up in the Police to protect its people, and one such department is usually the Missing Person’s Unit.
Today, many police procedural shows are making rounds on various platforms as they deal with serious, crucial issues and show us the true face of the society. One such show with low ratings but a high user base was loved for its bold and realistic revelation of societal truths. Yes, we are talking about Alert: Missing Persons Unit.
The show that came out in 2023 is a Fox Broadcasting Company original and has been in the news for a second season. But the sad news is that the show won’t be coming out in September. However, the show is not yet canceled and will be coming out later. Here is what we know about Alert Season 2.
Why is Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 not coming in September?
The show was initially a part of the fall releases of Fox network, but will now not be happening for the following reasons:
- The show is supposed to happen in September-November, which is not the case anymore
- The Writer’s Guild Association Strikes and SAG-AFTRA strikes have delayed the show.
- It was renewed in March after the show finished in January, after which the strikes began in May. The writers did not have enough time to finish the script, and the actors had also refrained due to the strikes.
- Presently, after multiple meetings since August, there is no consensus, and hence, the strikes have been going on, and the show has been pushed. The filming has not begun yet, so the production and post-production would take time.
Is Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 happening?
Yes, the show was loved immensely and was renewed in March 2023 officially but now the filming has not begun, and as it is going to be an elaborate season with 13-20 episodes unlike season one with only ten episodes, it is a long time until we have an update.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 Expected Plot:
With no trailer or teaser, the official synopsis of season two was given indirectly by John Eisendarth in his interview with Deadline. “There’s definitely going to be a serialized component, a story for their family and their relationship that I have in mind for next year. It will be different, but I’m hopeful that every season could have a contained, mysterious, serialized story. That goes alongside the endless numbers of missing persons cases. There are all kinds of personal stories that I am looking forward to, like exploring the love triangle between Jason and Nikki and Mike. I love Kemi and exploring more of who she is. We just touched on how she became the person she is and her relationship with her dad. I’m confident we have a lot of incredibly interesting ground to cover.”
The show is about Philadelphia’s Police Department’s Missing Police Unit. When Nikki’s son goes missing, she joins the unit as a way to get over her guilt and help others find their loved ones. Her relations with her ex-husband and long-lost son, with cases all around, make it a heart-wrenching story.
