Amy Schumer is offering a direct update on where things stand in her marriage to chef Chris Fischer while also addressing commentary surrounding her recent health changes.
The comedian posted a new Instagram Reel on December 1. Within the update, Schumer briefly shifted the focus toward her relationship. Before sharing her thoughts, she referenced her ongoing health journey. In the caption, she clarified that public assumptions about the reason behind changes in her appearance were not connected to her marriage.
In that context, she wrote, “Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism.”
She then added another personal note, explaining, “Fingers crossed we make it through. He’s the best.”
Speculation about the couple’s marriage has been ongoing for several weeks. On November 6, the comedian addressed those rumors directly on her Instagram Stories. In a short message intended to counter public assumptions, the post stated that she and Fischer were “still married.”
A few days later, additional insight came from a source who spoke exclusively to PEOPLE on November 13. According to the source, the couple was not separating but instead navigating challenges familiar to long-term relationships. The source said, “They are both committed to the relationship.”
The new Instagram Reel also included Schumer’s response to criticism directed at her recent weight loss. She referenced reactions she has received and tied the conversation to her experience managing Cushing syndrome.
Before sharing her explanation, she acknowledged that the changes in her health have led to strong opinions from others. She responded to that scrutiny by saying, “Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.”
She went on to speak openly about the steps she has taken regarding her appearance and health. In the same message, she stated, “I’ve had plastic surgery over the years and I use monjouro. Sorry to anyone they lets down. I’m pain free.”
Schumer and Fischer first became publicly linked in November 2017. They married in February 2018. Their son, Gene David, was born in 2019, and the family has remained largely private outside of occasional appearances on social media and in Schumer’s stand-up material.
In her 2019 Netflix special, Amy Schumer: Growing, the comedian discussed Fischer’s place on the autism spectrum. Her comments in the special led to broader conversations at the time about representation and relationships.

This year marked their seventh wedding anniversary. Schumer commemorated the date in February by posting a wedding photo and adding a lighthearted caption about their prenup. The note read, “7 years ago we signed a prenup and haven’t had to utilize it. Love you babe.”
In recent weeks, Schumer’s Instagram presence has shifted noticeably. Earlier in November, she removed many past posts, including images featuring her husband. When she addressed the social media cleanup in a post on November 11, she shared, “I actually left my house tonight. Who’s proud? I’m feeling good and happy. Deleted my old pics for no reason.”
Newer posts have focused more on family moments. On November 29, she uploaded playful images of their son Gene stepping into the frame during an attempted photo. Schumer captioned the images with, “Trying to go to the party but someone won’t go to bed.”

The recent updates reflect both her decision to address speculation directly and her effort to maintain transparency with followers while continuing to navigate her health and marriage privately.
