James Haven is a protective uncle to his nephews and nieces.
“90who10” podcast co-host Jessica Entner asked guest Haven how he supported his sister once her life “unfolded in the public eye.” The actor replied by saying that he realized he had to alter the priorities in his life for the sake of his nephews and nieces to ensure their unbridled protection during the course of the split between his sister Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
He opened up to Entner stating, “That’s where it all started, it started with the protection of her and her children — my nieces and nephews.” He continued, “I set my life up so I can be present with whatever the situation,” adding, “I want to be there for them for her — whatever she’s going through.” The 52-year-old explained why he needed to be a strong figure around the children during their formative years. He continued, “They’re becoming young adults early 20s,” adding, “I think it’s just very natural and I just want to be there any time.” Haven further added, “Anytime I’m blessed to be in their presence, I want to be in their presence.”
The Mr. and Mrs. Smith actor and actress share Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15. The former power couple wed in 2014 and were together for 12 years before announcing their divorce in 2016. During their split and after the announcement, Page Six gathered reports via several credible outlets that the two got into a physical altercation on a private jet with their children in attendance in 2016.
Page Six acquired court documents in October of 2022 which state that the “Fight Club” actor reportedly “choked one of the children and struck another in the face.” The aforementioned court document also revealed that Pitt allegedly “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” Further, the documents state, “At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children.”
As a response to this document leakage, sources close to Pitt told the Post that he admits to having raised his voice on his children, but never got physical with them. The sources told the outlet, “Brad may have been drinking, and admits that he yelled at his son, but he insists he did not hit him or attempt to harm him. It was a confrontation that got out of hand.” Page Six gathered information on the same source furthering that Jolie’s filing of the documents was nothing short of a smear campaign.
In September, the “Maleficent” actress admitted to having been going through a lot along with her children following the aftermath of the split. Court documents acquired by Page Six state that the couple were initially granted joint custody over their children in May 2021. However, a month later, it was scrapped. The custody of their minor children has still not been resolved.
The duo called quits officially in 2019.
