Gutsy Plot and Cast
The official description of the Gutsy by Apple TV+ states, “Based on the Clintons’ acclaimed New York Times bestselling book, ‘The Book of Gutsy Women,’ the docuseries features Hillary and Chelsea as they embark on a thought-provoking journey to speak with pioneering women artists, activists, community leaders and everyday heroes who show us what it truly means to be gutsy. Published by Simon and Schuster, the book features portraits of women such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Mary Ritter Beard, Harriet Tubman, Edith Windsor, and Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, among others.”
The series shows Hillary and Chelsea as you’ve never seen them before, revealing their special mother-daughter bond and the unique, multi-generational way they approach the important and timely issues highlighted in each episode. Joining the Clintons are some of their personal heroes, extraordinary, courageous, and resilient women who have made an impact in their community and on the world, including Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Dr. Jane Goodall, Gloria Steinem, Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson and many more.
Produced for Apple by HiddenLight Productions in association with Left/Right LLC, the new company founded by Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Sam Branson. Hidden light Productions is repped by WME. “Gusty” is executive produced by Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, alongside Johnny Webb, Siobhan Sinnerton, Roma Khanna, Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, and Anna Chai, who also serves as showrunner, with producers Kevin Vargas and Claire Featherstone, and consulting producers Huma Abedin and Bari Lurie.
Gutsy Production Timeline
The production of the series was first announced with a straight-to-series order in December 2020. According to Deadline, “Originally titled Gutsy Women, the project was ordered straight to series in late 2020 and is all about what it means to be gutsy. Per the logline, the series shows the former Secretary of State and U.S. senator and the erstwhile first daughter as most haven’t them before, revealing their special mother-daughter bond and the unique, multi-generational way they approach the important and timely issues highlighted in each episode.”
Gutsy is an eight-part documentary series, and as stated above, each episode will follow the former Secretary of State, Senator, First Lady of the United States, and her daughter as they speak with prominent women who have impacted the culture and their communities over the years. We’d also like to point out that, as of July 16, 2022, the exact titles for the episodes cannot be confirmed. As the network will publish those when the episodes are due to air on the streaming service. So, we would advise fans to be patient while waiting for these updates, which will be issued in the coming weeks.
