The BLACKPINK members are all set to take on the Coachella stage once again! According to Hits Daily Double, the K-pop girl group will be one of the headlining acts for Coachella 2023. Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean will be among the others who will headline the much-awaited event. For the unversed, BLACKPINK is going to make history as the first ever K-Pop artist headlining act of Coachella. Back in 2019, the members already made history after becoming the first K-pop group to perform at the music festival.

Coachella details

Coachella 2023 is all set to take place from April 14, 2022, to April 23, 2022, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The BLACKPINK members are currently kicking off their Asia tour starting with Bangkok, followed by Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates throughout the month of January. It is worth noting here that following the K-pop girl group’s shows in Kuala Lumpur, Kaohsiung, and Manila in March this year, there will be a noticeable gap in April before all of them start performing again in Singapore on May 13, 2023.

On January 4, 2022, BLACKPINK’s music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” officially exceeded 2 billion views on YouTube, much to the excitement of the BLINKs. This makes them the first-ever K-Pop group have accomplished the feat. BLACKPINK has also become the first K-Pop group with the most views on a single music video on the popular platform.

Talking about the popular song, it was released on June 15, 2018, as the title track from the K-pop girl group’s first-ever mini album Square Up. Now, the official video has reached 2 billion views after 4 years and 6 months.

For the unversed, BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU ranks just behind PSY’s global hit Gangnam Style which is currently holding a record for 4.6 billion views on YouTube.

The TIME achievement

On December 5, 2022, local time, TIME Magazine, which is a renowned publication, unveiled its list of the year 2022’s most influential people in each particular field. Among all of them, BLACKPINK became the first-ever girl group in the world to be named the Entertainer of the Year.

The magazine further remarked on BLACKPINK’s current position and reported said, “BLACKPINK is this generation’s icon that leads the trend, and the largest female band in the world.” The same article also applauds the K-pop group BLACKPINK’s success as the one that performed the best on the latest global music charts this year.
