Things go haywire when the whole class gets transported to some other realm and receives magical powers of some form or the other. Hajime got what was thought to be particularly basic magic of an alchemist, as opposed to the strong ones his classmates were bestowed with. As said that Kaori has other admirers as well; one pushed Hajime down to the bottom of a dungeon while they were on a raid.

Hajime finds a captured, centuries-old vampire who he freed, and the duo started out together as a team to find a way out of the world while looking for his long-lost group of classmates. The traumas he has faced turned him into a cold-hearted, ruthless being who surprised the whole group by showing up when everyone thought that he had already kicked the bucket.
