Rage and Revenge are a source of an inexhaustible fire.
Once it starts, it ends up engulfing everything around it.
Such is the riveting plotline of Netflix’s stellar dramedy series, Beef, which has the audience hooked since its inception. The premise of the series is based on an emotion that is as dangerous at its initiation as it is in its escalation. Although a dark comedy, the theory subtly hints at the reality and what might be if rage and revenge become uncontrollable. Lee Sung Ji’s Beef is deeply rooted in reality is probably why it has achieved innumerable accolades over the course of only one Season. It currently has a critic score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes (which would make it one of the best Netflix series ever) and an 88 on Metacritic, giving it much-deserved recognition.
Needless to say, the fandom has considerably expanded as more and more people join the Beef bandwagon. Ever since Season 1 ended, the fans have been twiddling their thumbs over a possible Season 2 of Beef. So when will Beef Season 2 reach Netflix? Are there any hopes for August?
If you are one of the viewers pondering over these questions, you have come to the right place as we have fresh new updates regarding Beef Season 2 and its potential release date.
Beef Season 2: Has The Renewal Date Been Announced?
Unfortunately, as of writing this, no tentative announcements have been made regarding renewal for Beef Season 2. This seems unusual given the almost perfect score the series has garnered across respected critic platforms. We are currently in the fourth month after the Season 1 finale aired, and it is unusual for Netflix to wait so long to notify us of a renewal date. For other hit series on the streaming giant, it takes usually a month or two to confirm a series renewal. For Beef, however, Netflix is taking longer than anticipated.
So is the series over after only one Season? It does not seem like it, and Lee Sung Ji has confirmed this.
“Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to [Danny and Amy’s] story,” Lee told Elle. “But, if given the opportunity, of course, I’d love to explore them further because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative.”
Lee also told Rolling Stone, “I wanted it to have a conclusive feel just in case,” he says, “but there are a lot of ideas on my end to keep this story going. I think should we be blessed with a season two, there are a lot of ways for Danny and Amy to continue. I have one really big general idea that I can’t really say yet, but I have three seasons mapped out in my head currently.”
3 seasons! That’s a promising confirmation. So, all hints point to a series renewal soon. There is a possible explanation behind the unwarranted delay of the renewal announcement, so it is time to address the elephant in the room: The WGA and SAG AFTRA strike.
May 2023 witnessed the onslaught of the gravest writer’s protest in the form of the WGA union. Amidst the protest, several competing networks updated their fall broadcast schedules in anticipation of the dissipation of the strikes within the next month. However, in July, the actors union SAG-AFTRA also joined in the protest for their wage rights and better protection against the hindsight of Artificial Intelligence. The last time such a large-scale strike sent Hollywood productions into an indefinite hiatus was 63 whole years ago! We are currently in the third month of this double-strike situation, and there are no hopes for any reconciliation through negotiations.
In a recent meeting held for the first time in more than three months, the Writers Guild and the AMPTP on Friday failed to reach an agreement to resume contract negotiations. Their inability to agree on terms for returning to the bargaining table comes after their much-anticipated meeting to discuss a possible resumption of talks.
“As of now, there is no agreement on these items, because the AMPTP said they needed to consult with their member studios before moving forward,” the union said in a statement last Friday.
It looks like the hold in renewal has something to do with the current strike situation, so unless it dissipates, we cannot expect a renewal announcement for Season 2.
Beef Season 2: Release Date Prediction
As stated above, we are yet to come across a Season 2 renewal for Beef by the streamer giant, and one of the main thorns in the path of the announcement is the WGA SAG AFTRA strike. Unless that simmers and negotiations are met, it is difficult to determine a tentative release date for Beef Season 2.
However, there is no harm in making an expected prediction date to provide some solace to the impatient fanbase of the series who are anticipating its return. Provided that a renewal announcement arrives within the next two months in a situation where the strike has dissipated, following the usual filming and production trajectory, we can expect Beef Season 2 to arrive between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.
As of now, we urge the viewers to remain patient on the matter and tune in to the social media accounts of the streamer giant as well as Beef’s official handles. If that seems too far-fetched, you can turn on your post notifications to Web News Observer because we will update new announcements regularly here.
Beef Season 2: Cast
As mentioned above, Lee had always planned an anthology limited series where there would be new characters for new seasons. However, the audience roots for Danny and Amy to appear again for the second installment, so much so that Lee might consider bringing them back. So it seems like we might watch the characters return!
We might see a completely new cast in the next season, so until then, here is the official cast for Beef Season 1:

Beef Season 2: Where To Watch and Episode Count
While Netflix has kept the renewal as well as release date announcement for Beef Season 2 under wraps for now, you can watch Beef Season one right now on Netflix, provided you have a membership plan for the same.
When it comes to the episode count, we can expect Season 2 to carry on with 10 episodes, just like in Beef Season 1. In other news, the current strike can, unfortunately, hinder the episode count to 8 or 6 episodes since that is happening with other upcoming series to curb the production budget.
*Spoilers ahead*
However, since no official announcement has been made regarding this, it will be derogatory to make any predictions on the same.
Additionally, here is an episode rundown on Beef Season One, whose official synopsis reads, “Beef follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers. Danny Cho (Steven Yeun), a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, goes head-to-head with Amy Lau (Ali Wong), a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life.
