Want to know when the adult animated coming-of-age sitcom will return? Here is everything we know so far about Big Mouth Season 7.
It has been a good amount of time since the premiere of the sixth season’s finale episode on October 28, 2022, which has led to much speculation about why the series has taken so long to return on Netflix. After months of anticipation, it is safe to say that fans have been wondering whether or not the show will return in 2023.
For your convenience, we’ll get right to the point: Yes, the American adult animated coming-of-age sitcom created by Andrew Goldberg will definitely return for a 7th season! If you recall, the series was ordered back in April 2022 by Netflix. Since then, the exact release date of the upcoming season hasn’t been confirmed, which is unfortunate.
Hence, if we have to speculate, the new episodes are expected to premiere sometime around late 2023, with October being the likely release window as the prior season also had a similar time gap with the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. So, it is likely that the next season will follow in the same footsteps.
Moreover, with the premiere of Season 7, Big Mouth will become the longest-running animated original on Netflix, beating out the current holder of the title, BoJack Horseman, with 6 seasons. Take a look at the official announcement, quoting, “These announcements might get you kind of… *excited*… Big Mouth Season 6 IS COMING LATER THIS YEAR, AND has been renewed for SEASON 7!”

The series is a half-hour adult animated comedy series from creators Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, Nick Kroll, and Mark Levin, which watches as teenage friends find their lives upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty. Its series regulars are Kroll, John Mulaney, Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Ayo Edebiri, and Jessi Klein. This season reportedly includes guest appearances from the likes of Adam Levine, Jeff Goldblum, and Tyler, the Creator.
The plot of the new season is currently unknown, but it’s likely that the series will continue to explore the ups and downs of puberty through the eyes of its main characters. The season is expected to pick up some threads from the sixth season finale episode, “F… Up Friday,” directed by Bryan L. Francis and written by Gil Ozeri, which showed a sudden outbreak of body-swapping and yields awkward situations and poignant revelations. This is a good starting point for continuing with regard to character arcs.
