Yes, it is official. According to Deadline, OWN’s Black Love is returning for one last go-round. The network has renewed the four-time NAACP-nominated docuseries for a sixth and final season. The official Instagram handle of Black Love also shared the news among their followers, quoting, “Here’s a little tease of the sixth and final season of our docuseries Black Love.”
Further adding, “Black Love means the world to us and we are honored that so many couples have so vulnerably shared their highs and lows and lessons with us so we can bring them to you. Join us on @OWNtv in July for the final season of #BlackLoveDoc.”

Furthermore, the series has gained a fairly good reception from the audience. As a result, it seemed clear that the series was planned to conclude with the sixth season on a timely basis rather than stretching the success of the series for similar themes in repeated seasons, and it looks like this was already in the early stages of development.

Why did the OWN network renew Black Love for Season 6?
For more than five years, the series has provoked heated debates and highlighted some of America’s favorite Black couples. Black Love was the #1 non-sports cable program among African-American women during its time period, and it was a big rating engine. As a result, it’s not surprising that the series will be renewed for a sixth season in order to bring a successful franchise to a proper finish after five seasons.
Moreover, as per OWN, “Their commitment to increase representation and create transparency around marriage in the Black community via the series as well as their company Black Love, Inc. (which includes Blacklove.com, the Black Love Plus app, a thriving podcast network, and socials that exceed 70M monthly impressions) has made Black Love cool again.”

Black Love Season 6 Plot
The official description of the show, as suggested by the OWN network, indicates that the series delves into the various distinct paths taken by married couples on their way to becoming one. The Olivers started the show as newlyweds, and throughout each season, they focused on “Black Love” in all of its forms with a diverse group of couples.
With the goal of increasing representation and transparency in the Black community. The Olivers have been married for seven years and have three sons who are all under the age of five. The show’s investigation of marital subjects and themes has progressed in tandem with their marriage and family.
