BLACKPINK becomes 1st K-pop act to get nominated for Best Video at the MTV EMAs 2022

According to the latest reports, BLACKPINK has become the first-ever K-pop act to have received a nomination for Best Video at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. The EMAs recently announced its nomination list for 2022 on October 12, which included a nomination of the South Korean girl group in the Best Video category for the music video of ‘Pink Venom.’ It has made them the first K-pop group to receive a nomination in the specific category.

Other nominations

Apart from the Best Video nomination, the BLACKPINK members also got nominated for three other categories of the EMAs – Best Metaverse Performance (for the PUBG in-game concert titled ‘The Virtual’), Biggest Fans, and Best K-pop. Other than that, the group’s member Lisa also got nominated as one of the separate contenders for Best K-pop for her work as a soloist.

Other groups

Meanwhile, the K-pop boy bands BTS and SEVENTEEN bagged three nominations – the former group for Best Metaverse Performance (‘Butter’ and ‘Permission to Dance’ Minecraft concert), and Best K-pop, and the latter for Best Push, Best K-pop, and Best New categories. The TXT members also received a nomination for Best Asia Act, making them the only Korean act in the specified category.

Voting for the MTV EMAs is now officially open and is supposed to close on November 9, 2022. The awards ceremony will take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, on November 13, 2022.

Recently, the popular influencer analytical media outlet platform Lefty revealed the top 10 influencers of the Paris Fashion Week. BLACKPINK member Jisoo ranked at the number one position among the same with a total earned media value (EMV) of 22.4 million USD and 7% engagement rate. Jisoo’s ranking also helped Dior dominate the top brand list at the mega event with a total EMV of around 45.5 million USD.

Rosé and Jennie also participated in the Paris Fashion Week and were among the top 4 of the list of influencers in the parade with values higher than EMV 10 million USD. They are also the only representatives from Asia to have reached the aforementioned figures.

BORN PINK tour

The BLACKPINK members are currently gearing up for their BORN PINK tour that is scheduled to kickstart on October 15, 2022. For the unversed, the first two dates will take place in Seoul, South Korea. The lengthy tour will reportedly continue till June 2023, during which the group will make stops in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
