YG Entertainment, the agency associated with renowned South Koran bands like BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, iKON, WINNER, etc., recently announced that it is postponing the release of its upcoming content releases and scheduling promotions for the time being. The agency, which is known for housing some of the most renowned celebrities and groups, took to social media to release the official statement about having stopped the release of the scheduled content on October 30, 2022.

Here is what YG Entertainment said in its official statement, “This is YG Entertainment. We have decided to temporarily postpone the promotion schedule and content release dates for our artists. We will further make a notice on the detailed schedules.” YG Entertainment would also like to send our deepest condolences to the victims, families, and those affected by this tragic incident.”

The unfortunate incident
Not only YG Entertainment but many other artists and groups have postponed their schedules for the upcoming days because of the recent stampede incident in Seoul, South Korea. Around 150 people, mostly in their teens and 20s, lost their lives during the stampede that happened when a large crowd gathered to celebrate Halloween on Saturday night.
South Korean president Yoon Suk-Yeol has already declared a period of national mourning this Sunday. He also spoke to the countrymen in a televised address and said that the tragedy and disaster that occurred should have never happened. He said that the government authorities would thoroughly investigate the incident and its cause and make the required fundamental improvements to ensure such accidents do not occur in the future.
The Itaewon crowd surge happened on October 29, 2022, killing around 150 people and injuring over 300. More comebacks and events were postponed a day later, on October 30, 2022, to spend a period of mourning after the unfortunate tragedy in Itaewon. All agencies and celebrities alike expressed their condolences through official statements.
Celebrities who canceled events
Woollim Entertainment announced that the release schedule for DRIPPIN’s upcoming full-length album ‘Villain: The End’ will be postponed. It was originally scheduled for November 1, 2022.
IRRIS announced that they would be postponing the release of their new single ‘Stay W!th Me’ for a later date. It was originally scheduled for October 31, 2022.
BRANDNEW MUSIC also canceled YOUNITE’s comeback showcase for their third mini album ‘YOUNI-ON’ which was scheduled for October 31 at 4 p.m. KST.
ICHILLIN’ has further postponed the release of their third-ever digital single, ‘Draw (MY TIME).’
BTS’ Jin’s The Astronaut lyric video and the listening party were also postponed because of the same reason.
