BLACKPINK’s pre-release track Pink Venom becomes the biggest K-pop debut on Spotify

It was only recently that BLACKPINK’s pre-release track Pink Venom was dropped by the makers, and now it seems like there is no stop to its list of achievements! Yes, you heard that right. On August 22, 2022, the group wrapped up with a whopping 10 million streams and above on the track’s very first day on the popular music platform Spotify. Now, Pink Venom has become the biggest K-pop song to debut on the platform on 2022. It has beat BTS’ Yet to Come in the said category. Apart from that, the song has also topped the Global Top 50 chart of US’ Spotify. It is the first-ever song by Korean female artists to have achieved the feat.

Other achievements

For the unversed, Pink Venom is the second album pre-release song of the BLACKPINK members. As for the music video, it has predominantly surpassed 100 million views on yet another platform, YouTube, on August 20, 2022. The said song was released on August 19, 2022, at 1 pm, and within around 30 hours, it created multiple records one after the other. This makes it the fastest among all the K-pop girl group videos to have reached a whopping 100 million views so far.

The BLINKs were excited about BLACKPINK’s pre-release track Pink Venom even before its official release. The fans were sent into a frenzy when YG Entertainment shared posters, including the MV teaser for the track. Fans already witnessed amazing symbolic images in the MV teaser that include a giant pendulum clock and a raging sandstorm during the introduction.

Then we get to witness the hands playing the traditional Korean instrument, the Geomungo, and the alternative appearance of figures wearing black clothes. All the elements create a mysterious and majestic environment in the video. Moreover, we also get to hear a mysterious voice saying BLACKPINK in the background, which raises our curiosity. Afterward, we get to listen to the lyrics sung by the members that read, “I bring the pain like” which has stimulated the curiosity of fans on a larger scale.

The group’s campaign

Prior to Pink Venom’s release, the BLACKPINK members also announced an amazing campaign to commemorate the pre-release single. The said campaign is titled Light Up The Pink and will witness multiple major city landmarks turning pink to mark the K-pop girl group’s comeback. The places include Santa Monica Pacific Wheel in Los Angeles, N Seoul Tower in Seoul, Sinar Mas Plaza in Shanghai, Tokyo Tower in Tokyo, and more!
