Other records

Among others, BORN PINK’s title track Shut Down has ranked at number one on the Billboard Global 200 and the Global Exclusive US charts. The track has now extended its record that was previously made by its predecessor, Pink Venom. Talking about Shut Down, it has also scored the number one rank on the World Digital Song Sales Chart.

BORN PINK at the Billboard

Earlier in the week, it was also reported that BORN PINK had debuted at the number one rank on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first from the girl group. It makes BLACKPINK the only female K-pop act to date to have achieved the feat and the first-ever all-female group since 2008. The album has also aced the Top Album Sales, TOP Current Album Sales, and Tastemaker Album Sales.

Shut Down

On September 16, 2022, YG Entertainment, the agency associated with BLACKPINK, finally released the music video for Shut Down. The video opens up with a sense of addictiveness as we get to hear the tunes of Paganini’s ‘La Campanella.’ There is no denying that the track makes us believe that they are the ruling K-pop queens, as the music video shows all the members spending their time together. This time, the group opted for a simple yet effective MV that makes multiple references to the older MVs that gave the BLINKs a little nostalgic feeling.

The music video seems to have beautiful past references to BLACKPINK’s earlier songs, including their debut track BOOMBAYAH, DDU-DU DDU-DU, PLAYING WITH FIRE, Pretty Savage, and others.
