Blood Sisters: Release date, trailer, cast, plot and more updates

Blood Sisters

Oscar Wilde rightly said, “Murder is always a mistake. One should never do anything that one cannot talk about after dinner.”

But what if one killed their husband to be, just a night before the wedding? And sat at dinner too? Was it an accident or a deliberate attempt? Or what if it was a well-set trap to teach all a lesson? A twisted tale of family conspiracies and toxic relationships, Blood Sisters is the first Nigerian limited series hitting Netflix very soon.

Here is all we need to know about the Blood Sisters.

Blood Sisters Release Date

Blood Sisters

The series is all set to release on May 5, 2022, so the wait won’t be a long one if you are already excited to watch it.

Abudu, who is the CEO of EbonyStudios, the official studio partner of Netflix from Nigeria for this show, states in one of her interviews, “‘Blood Sisters’ is a crime thriller, which is a new genre for us, so the prospect was challenging but very exciting! It was also a particularly unique and intense experience as we shot during the pandemic, but we remained committed to the vision we share with Netflix — to tell authentic and exciting African stories with superb production values.”

This has been her latest project from Netflix.

Blood Sisters Trailer

The trailer that has been recently released on Netflix and YouTube has received an overwhelming response. It gives away enough, but not full details, just to keep us hooked. Blood Sisters Expected Plot:

The official Netflix synopsis reads, “Bound by a dangerous secret, best friends Sarah and Kemi are forced to go on the run, after a wealthy groom disappears, during his engagement party.”

Now this leaves us with many questions. First, the title refers to the bond between Sarah and Kemi and how despite being best friends, the situations make them blood sisters. The husband to be, Kola, seems perfect but abuses his partner by hitting her. Did she kill him or just get him kidnapped is something we need to watch and find out. Were the families aware? How is the culture and traditions in Nigeria impacting the lives of independent women even today? Is there an escape from the vicious circle of societal norms? The show will definitely quench our thirst and answer all these questions.
