What’s next for the Reagan family? Read on to find out more about Blue Bloods Season 13.
Blue Bloods is a police procedural series that revolves around the Reagans, a family that has a history of working in law enforcement. Frank, who is the Police Commissioner and son of former PC Henry Reagan, has to balance his duties with his work of running the largest police force in the world and being his children’s boss. His daughter, Erin, is an Assistant District Attorney, and his son, Danny, is a senior detective.
Jamie is the youngest member and Harvard graduate who continues the family’s tradition of police work. He joins NYPD to help his family to heal from the death of his elder brother, Joe and gets involved in an investigation his father doesn’t know about. The story follows this family and their patriotism, passion, and love for each other.
The series was premiered on September 24, 2010, and the twelfth season was released on October 1, 2021. The series was renewed for a thirteenth season in April 2022, and since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the Reagans to arrive for another season with more adventures and drama.
Here’s everything you need to know about Blue Bloods Season 13.
What can we expect from Blue Blood Season 13?
At the end of Season 12, we saw the Reagan family enjoying their traditional Sunday dinners together. In the last episode, there are two investigations that intersect. One is the investigation of a pregnant woman who dies after a bomb explodes in her home, but her baby miraculously survives. Another one is the case where Jamie and Joe Hill are searching for a girl who was trafficked. Both the cases are connected, and they realize it when they find the girl as she has a bomb attached to her. Danny finally defuses it, joined by Jamie and Joe. This scene depicts how the Reagans are ready to risk their lives for each other.
Erin confesses to Frank that she is no longer fearful of going for the position of the district attorney, and during the family dinner, she confirms that she will run for district attorney.
Baez is now a new mother as she adopts the baby of the witness killed by an explosion. She says to Danny that she had never thought of this moment and becoming a mother, but she couldn’t stop thinking about the baby after she first saw her. This is probably the most wholesome and unexpected surprise in this season that no one saw coming.
We expect Blue Bloods Season 13 to pick up from where Season 12 left off. With Erin Reagan announcing that she’s going to run for DA and Maria Baez deciding to adopt the orphaned daughter of a witness, there can be many challenges in the future. We’ll see the implications of these major decisions in the next season and the new cases and challenges that are waiting for the family as the story progresses. A major question is whether Erin wins the election or loses, as her candidacy can cause a great change in the family.
In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Kevin Wade said, “A Season 13 would have two tracks for Erin. Doing the job she has, challenging herself, and being challenged about her fitness for the job she wants. And what she’s willing, and not willing, to do in order to get it. So plenty of horse-trading, soul-searching, and disruption with the powers that be, her partner Anthony, and especially her family”.
Also, Baez is a mother now, and how she’ll balance being a single parent and her work as a cop is a question that will be solved in the upcoming season.
Is there a release date for Blue Bloods Season 13 yet?
No, unfortunately, there’s no release date for Blue Bloods Season 13 as of now. If we talk about the previous season, CBS announced the premiere dates in the middle of July, and it’s possible that they could do it again. If we were to guess, we expect the series to come back either at the end of September or the start of October.
