As the much-awaited Blue Bloods Season 14 release date draws closer with each passing day, rumors have been swirling about a potential twist in its release format. The trend of a split season has become a common trend in the television industry, and this time around, the Reagan family is also joining the list with the final season of the longest-running police procedural drama television series that has been airing on CBS since September 2010.
After being renewed by CBS earlier this year, the 14th season will now premiere in two parts, with the first 10 episodes airing as the midseason on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10 to 11 p.m. on CBS, and later all the brand new episodes will be available to stream on Paramount Plus.
The second half, consisting of 8 episodes, is scheduled to premiere sometime around the fall of 2024. The exact release date for the second part has not been disclosed yet. The official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle of the show also confirmed the new release dates with their followers, quoting, “Join us for the final season of #BlueBloods—Season 14, airing in TWO parts: February 2024 and Fall 2024 on @CBS and @paramountplus.”

What to expect from Season 14?
The plot has not been disclosed in order to avoid spoilers, but we are certain that the series premise will remain the same, which reads as follows:
“The show follows a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Tom Selleck stars as Frank Reagan, the New York Police Commissioner, and patriarch of the Reagan clan, a multigenerational family of cops. Frank’s oldest son is Danny, a seasoned detective and Iraqi War veteran who occasionally uses dubious tactics to solve cases.
Daughter Erin, the lone female, is an assistant district attorney. Fresh out of Harvard Law, Jamie is the youngest member and “golden boy” of the family. Jamie gave up a lucrative future in law to continue the family’s tradition in police work, and is asked to participate in a secretive investigation that even his father does not know about.”
The main cast members who are expected to reprise their roles are as follows:
Tom Selleck as NYC Police Commissioner Francis “Frank” Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Detective 1st Grade Daniel “Danny” Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as DDA Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Sergeant Jamison “Jamie” Reagan, Len Cariou as Henry Reagan, Marisa Ramirez as Detective 1st Grade Maria Baez, and Vanessa Ray as Officer Edit “Eddie” Janko-Reagan. The drama is created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, and led by showrunner Kevin Wade.
As stated above, the season will include 18 episodes with a runtime of 42 to 44 minutes, making it one of the shortest seasons when compared to prior ones due to the delay caused by Hollywood’s dual strikes, which have now ended with fair deals made for the parties involved.
All the prior seasons are available to stream on CBS’s official website and app after the broadcast, along with other streaming platforms like FuboTV, Paramount Plus, and Hulu Plus. The show can be rented or purchased on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, and Vudu. It is also available for free on Pluto, depending on the viewer’s location. Please note that the license and rights to stream the series may expire in the near future. As a result, these streaming options are subject to change over time.
