Bridgerton Season 3 Expected Release Date

We know that the third season began principal photography back in July 2022, which eventually wrapped earlier this year in March 2023. Since then, no official announcement regarding the release date has been made by the network, but we have to highlight that the ideal release window for the show’s return in late 2023 seems pretty evident to happen as the time required to complete the post-production has also ended, so there is a chance that soon we will get treated to an official release date!

That’s not all! For the readers who are curious to know about the potential release date, we can assure you that if you have been keeping up with the Bridgerton community regularly, then you’ll know that many fans have pointed out that the release date might have accidentally leaked by multiple Netflix social media accounts that shared the date and then quickly removed the posts, which caused a bit of hysteria among the fandom.

Bridgerton Season 3 is not coming to Netflix in October 2023

According to the deleted posts, Bridgerton Season 3 is all set to premiere this winter streaming season by premiering new episodes on Thursday, December 14, 2023!

Of course, this is not confirmed yet, but it’s looking like that might be the actual date, as previously it was also reported that the season might be aiming for a late 2023 release, which has excited the fans, to say the least. To add more doubt in the mind, this confusion has gotten a lot of attention because the same happened with Virgin River fans as the leaked release date for the new season turned out to be true with the season premiere on the same release window. Hence, there is no reason for the network to push back the release window to sometime around January 2024!

We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds. Until then, it is expected to have the same time slot, which is 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET). In order to receive updates on when the show premieres on Netflix, interested viewers can also enable notifications.

Bridgerton Season 3: Which book is the new season based on?

The third season will follow Quinn’s fourth novel, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” which will focus on Penelope and Colin’s friendship turning into one of the best romantic relationships!

The official synopsis of the season states as follows: In Season 3, Penelope has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger.

But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the town makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Bridgerton Season 3 Plot: What more can the viewers expect from the season?

Attention readers! The section includes major spoilers about the season. In case you haven’t read the book, we urge you to skip this part for a spoiler-free article!

Much to everyone’s delight, this season will continue after Season 2’s Featherington Ball. Penelope is left heartbroken after overhearing Colin say to a group of bachelors that he would never court her… But Penelope is moving away from her crush on Colin and is determined to find herself a husband who’ll allow her the independence to continue her work as Lady Whistledown. But Colin quickly realizes that he’s losing his long-time friend and wants to win her back. He then offers to help Penelope improve her confidence to better attract a proposal. Once Colin’s lessons start to work a little too well, he’ll have to grapple with the possibility that his feelings for Penelope aren’t strictly platonic. Penelope’s falling out with Colin’s little sister, Eloise Bridgerton (Jessie) – who will find an unlikely new friend in Season 3 – further complicates the Polin matter.

This is different from how the books are supposed to be read because book 3 is about Benedict Bridgerton’s courtship and marriage, while book 4 is about Penelope and Colin’s romance!

So, their story has been adapted as a series before the third season is exciting as their bond has been kind of hinted at since the inception of the show, which turns into Bridgerton’s first friends-to-lovers trope! Nicola Coughlan also mentioned to Netflix Tudum that the pair is “the Ross and Rachel” of Bridgerton, adding, “But Penelope is the Ross. She’s the one secretly harboring the love for him.” Luke Newton also wants to see another side to his character. “I’m hoping that he has sort of a more sensitive side to him,” Newton added. “I love that we are exploring a relationship that so many people have had, where you form a friendship and you get to know each other down to the core. Then it sparks something from there.”

Moreover, during the promotion tour, Nicola Coughlan stopped by Tudum: A Global Fan Event to reveal the first photos of Bridgerton Season 3, which showcased Penelope with a “whole new look,” and Colin looking every bit fresh and handsome from his travels to France, Spain, and Italy. During the event, Coughlan talked about what they can expect to see in the third season, stating, “We open our season with the ton’s return from the countryside… Both Colin and Pen have done some growing up. And only time will tell how their friendship will develop.” She added, “This season, Penelope returns to London determined to become a new woman with a new independence… We cannot wait to take you along for the carriage ride.”
