Is Bridgerton Season 3 expected to release in 2022 or 2023 on Netflix? Continue reading to find out.
If you recall that last time the viewers tuned in to watch the series, we saw Anthony and Kate finally being together, while Eloise turned to Theo for help in her Lady Whistledown hunt, and Lady Featherington planned a grand ball, all of which bodes well for the new season. To say the least, there has also been a massive cliffhanger that has sparked a lot of speculation among fans.
It appears that the characters and story are raising the stakes even higher for the upcoming season, which will be thrilling to watch. Especially for you, we’ve compiled all of the pertinent information about the third season. So you can begin watching it on Netflix right away to catch up on the story if you haven’t been able to yet.
Here is everything we know so far about when Bridgerton Season 3 will release on Netflix.
Bridgerton Season 3: When will it release on Netflix?
Yes, Bridgerton Season 3 will definitely return to your screen, but just not this month. You might have to wait a bit longer as the filming of the episode is still underway, and it seems like the production has not reached its concluding stage and is supposedly set to wrap sometime in December 2022. Hence, it seems impossible that the show will return this year, to say the least.
The exact release date of the show has not been disclosed as of November 8, 2022. If we were to guess, we suspect Netflix is setting up Bridgerton Season 3 for a 2023 release, considering the last season came out in September 2021. Of course, this is just speculation, and the fans should wait and keep a closer eye on the social media handles of the show to know about all the latest details and updates.

Bridgerton Season 3 Plot
Season 3 of Bridgerton will skip the third book, “An Offer From a Gentleman,” which follows Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) love journey, and instead focus on book 4, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” which follows Penelope and Colin’s storyline. The official synopsis released by Netflix for the next season is stated below:
From Shondaland and new showrunner Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger.
But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the town makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
Bridgerton Season 3 Cast Updates
Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton will be the main actors surrounding the story for the new season. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley were confirmed to return for the third season as Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton, exploring their married life and responsibilities as heads of the eponymous family.
Along with Adjoa Andoh, Luke Newton, Jessica Madsen, Harriet Cains, Florence Hunt, Polly Walker, Emma Naomi, Luke Thompson, Hugh Sachs, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Julie Andrews, and Martins Imhangbe to be returning. Hannah Dodd was cast to replace Ruby Stokes as Francesca Bridgerton in the third season the following month. Due to scheduling conflicts, Stokes had to leave the show. Chandran will not return as Edwina for the rest of the season.
Three new male actors have signed on for the new season: Daniel Francis (Stay Close) has joined the cast as Marcus Anderson; Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling; and James Phoon (Wreck) as Harry Dankworth. Hannah New, who will play the young widow Lady Tilley Arnold, is the most recent addition to the cast. On the other hand, we know what you’re thinking – if Regé-Jean Page, who played the smoldering Duke of Hastings in Season 1, is returning or not. Sadly, he will not be reprising his role in Season 3.
Bridgerton Season 3: Episode Details
The first episode’s title was revealed on Netflix’s TUDUM event on September 24, 2022. The title of the episode is revealed as “Out of the Shadows.” The episode is directed by Tricia Brock and written by Jess Brownell. The tile could be a reference to Eloise’s knowledge that Penelope is Lady Whistledown.
The episode’s opening lines are, “Dearest gentle reader, we’ve been apart for far too long. At last, London’s smart set has made its return, and so too has this author. As the season begins the question on everyone’s minds is, of course, which newly-minted debutante will shine the brightest? The crop this year appears to be rather dazzling indeed, unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light”. This is read by Nicola Coughlan, the actress who plays Penelope.
