Recently, a limited-run series drama created by Shonda Rhimes, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” also became a part of this franchise, which was well-received by viewers around the world. So, the viewers are now left curious to know if the network will soon expand the Regency era by premiering the much-awaited third season of Bridgerton or not.
If you have been keeping up with the timeline of the series, then you’ll know that the production for the third season which began principal photography in July 2022 has wrapped up filming in March 2023. Hence, if we consider this schedule, then it might take a few more months to finish post-production, which involves editing and other tasks to make these upcoming episodes perfect.

Bridgerton Season 3: What to expect in the new season?
The focus of Season 3 is Penelope and Colin’s relationship, which is the subject of “Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” which is the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series. The love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington in the fourth of Julia Quinn’s bestselling Regency novels, which features the charming, powerful Bridgerton family, has been confirmed to have served as a major source of inspiration for season three, with minor tweaks.

In the aftermath of Season 2’s Featherington Ball, Penelope is left heartbroken after overhearing Colin say to a group of bachelors that he would never court her… But Penelope is moving away from her crush on Colin and is determined to find herself a husband who’ll allow her the independence to continue her work as Lady Whistledown.
But Colin quickly realizes that he’s losing his long-time friend and wants to win her back. He then offers to help Penelope improve her confidence to better attract a proposal. Once Colin’s lessons start to work a little too well, he’ll have to grapple with the possibility that his feelings for Penelope aren’t strictly platonic. Penelope’s falling out with Colin’s little sister Eloise Bridgerton (Jessie) – who will find an unlikely new friend in Season 3 – further complicates the Polin matter.

This is different from how the books are supposed to be read because book 3 is about Benedict Bridgerton’s courtship and marriage, while book 4 is about Penelope and Colin’s romance. So, their story is being adapted as a series first, which is exciting as their bond has been kind of hinted at since the inception of the show. Additionally, the main official synopsis from the first lines of the pilot episode titled, “Out of the Shadows,” states:
“Dearest gentle reader, we’ve been apart for far too long. At last, London’s smart set has made its return, and so too has this author. As the season begins, the question on everyone’s minds is, of course, which newly-minted debutante will shine the brightest? The crop this year appears to be rather dazzling indeed, unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light.” The episode is directed by Tricia Brock and written by Jess Brownell.
Apart from Phoebe Dynevor, who confirmed that she will not be returning but could reprise her role “potentially in the future.” The previous cast members will return in the new season with a few changes along with three new actors to tell this romantic tale, which are as follows Daniel Francis will play Marcus Anderson, a charismatic new entry to the ton, Sam Phillips will appear as Lord Debling, a likable lord with eccentric interests, and James Phoon has the role of Dankworth, a character who may lack wit but makes up for it with dashing looks.
