Waiting for updates on Bridgerton Season 3? Read on.

Bridgerton is based on a series of 8 novels (and multiple “epilogues”) written by Julia Quinn and adapted for Netflix by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland productions. They follow the Bridgerton family, comprised of widowed matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and her eight children, as they seek marriage matches in Regency England’s high society.

The first season, which premiered on December 25, 2020, broke Netflix viewing records as it followed the eldest daughter Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) search for a husband, and her unexpected connection with the dashing Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). Season 2 then tackled the second book in the series, honing in on eldest brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey)’s enemies-to-lovers romance with the foolhardy Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

If you loved the season 1 and 2 of Bridgerton, you must be wondering whether the show will be renewed for a Season 3. And if yes, then who will be the center-stage couple this time?

Here’s everything you need to know about Bridgerton Season 3.

Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date

As of now, there is no release date for Bridgerton Seasons 3 and Season 4. But given that the first season premiered on Christmas Day 2020 and the second season dropped a bit later on March 25, 2022, due to production delays related to the Coronavirus pandemic, we may hear news about Bridgerton Season 3 (fingers crossed) sooner than last time.

Also, in an interview with Marie Claire Australia, actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, confirmed that the drama will begin filming the third installment this summer “sometime between June and August.”

There’s also a Bridgerton spin-off in the works, which will focus on the early years of Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, and Violet Bridgerton.

What will Bridgerton Season 3 and 4 be about?

Unfortunately, we don’t know the plot for the next seasons, but if it follows the blueprint laid out by the first two seasons, we can speculate that Bridgerton Season 3 will follow the story of Bridgerton brother Benedict, in line with the books by Julia Quinn. It follows him as meets his match in Sophie Beckett, the illegitimate daughter of an earl who’s been relegated to servitude by her wicked stepmother.

Some fans have speculated that the story for Season 4 may focus on Penelope and Colin as a couple. Since there’s no official information, guess, we have to wait to find out who is going to be the end game couple in Bridgerton Season 3 and the next season.

Bridgerton Season 3 Cast

We’re still recovering from the exit of Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett in Season 1, and there’s the possibility that there will be more casting switch-ups ahead.

If we talk about the main characters, Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, and Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma, will officially be returning as the viscount and the new viscountess to head the Bridgerton household. Speaking with Deadline, Simone confirmed the news and revealed what she hopes to have her character bring in the next installment.

“We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started,” she told the outlet. “In Season 2, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other towards the end. I think everything is just starting. I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in Season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it.”

Some other characters that we are expecting to return are:

Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton
Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
