Britney Spears claps back at ex-husband Kevin Federline’s claims about her in his new memoir, You Thought You Knew.
According to PEOPLE, in his memoir to be released Tuesday, Federline shared that he’s concerned about Spears’ “situation”, fearing that it is “racing toward something irreversible.”
Responding to these claims made by her ex-husband, Spears took to X to share her perspective on October 15. The pop singer admitted that she’s “had enough” of Federline, “constantly gaslighting” her. Additionally, the Toxic singer defended her relationship with her sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, that she had with Federline during their three-year marriage from 2004-2007.
Spears wrote, “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys are complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”
Talking about the plight of her sons, the Princess of Pop continued to write, “Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by their own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 minutes in the past 5 years, and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride, too. From now on, I will let them know when I am available.”

In addition, Spears threw shade at Federline’s upcoming memoir, saying, “Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank, and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.”
“I will always love them, and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life for the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough, and any real woman would do the same”, she added.
According to PEOPLE, Spears’ post comes a day after her representatives told the news outlet that Kevin and others “are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.”
They added, “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.” Her memoir, The Woman in Me, published in 2023, details Spears’ relationship with fame, survival, motherhood, and more. Back then, while promoting her book, she told PEOPLE that, “Being a mom was my dream come true.”
However, Federline claimed in his memoir that their sons, Preston and Jayden, were petrified to visit Spears’ home as teenagers. He alleged, “They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ’Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”
Not only that, but Federline also shared his thoughts about the “Free Britney” movement, a court-ordered conservatorship that caught a lot of traction in 2019. He said that the movement “started from a good place”, but assumed a perilous tone later. In an excerpt shared by the New York Times from his memoir, he wrote, “All those people who put so much effort into that should now put the same energy into the ‘Save Britney’ movement. Because this is no longer about freedom. It’s about survival… Now, more than ever, [our children] need your support. I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me. It’s time to sound the alarm.”
As per the reports, it seems that Spears’ ex is not the only person concerned about the singer’s life. Her fans have also repeatedly expressed their concern for the Gimme More singer in recent months, owing to her unusual social media videos, some of which showcased Spears dancing without clothes.
