Britney Spears recounts a horrific fire incident!
Six months back, the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker suffered a fire hazard at her Los Angeles mansion when her fireplace exploded in her face while she was attempting to light it. In the end, she was left with a chunk of her fringes sizzled up, her eyebrow and eyelash hairs gone. The situation felt so dangerous, that the pop star contemplated going to the hospital at the time. Spears now narrates the incident that took place, to her 42 million Instagram followers through a video on Monday, September 30.
In her recently posted Instagram Stories, the ‘Criminal’ singer narrated the incident in a British accent saying, “I was in my room, I turned the fire on, and all of the sudden, it blew up in my face.” Spears noted that her fireplace had exploded before, so she usually called her security in to get the fire going.
However, this time, instead of summoning for help, the Grammy winner decided to light the fire herself. She further shared, “But this time, I just threw the whole thing in there, and it literally blew into my face,” and that the person she was with at the time “just would not wake up.”
The ‘Gimme More’ hitmaker then demonstrated by fingering the half-cut curtain bangs on her forehead, revealing that they were left charred from the fire. Spears shared that her eyebrows and eyelashes were also gone, recalling, “It took all my eyelashes off, my eyebrows and — see these baby bangs? These are from … it sizzl[ing] all my hair.”
At the time, ‘The Woman In Me’ bestselling author contemplated going to the emergency room thinking she got second-degree burns from the explosion, since she felt her “face was, like, on fire.” Spears said that she was suffering from anxiety thinking that she developed severe burns because it hurt to “even touch my face.” She suffered unbearable pain for six to seven hours.
Although the ‘…Baby One More Time’ songstress never mentioned if she went to the hospital, she revealed that after she took 3 Tylenol tablets, she could finally sleep at night. Spears concluded the video saying, “Yeah, it was really bad,” before adding, “All is good now.”
This was not the first time the pop icon started a house fire. Four years back, Spears narrated another incident where she unintentionally burned down her home gym after causing a fire from candles that she lit. She narrated the incident in December 2023 writing, “I walked past the door to the gym and flames, BOOM !!!!!!” before adding that the fire alarm went off in time to save the rest of the building.
She revealed that the place was left with only “two pieces of equipment lol and a one-sided mirror gym!!!!” However, the 42-year-old actress and singer was grateful that it was only confined to the gym, saying, “But it could be much worse so I’m grateful,” and joked that she liked working out in the open anyway.
Recently on September 14, Spears posted birthday tributes for her sons Jayden who turned 18 on September 10, and Sean who turned 19 on 14. TMZ reported that the pop star will pay for Jayden’s child support till November. She even commemorated the event by posting throwback pictures of her kids.

However, this positive post had tailed another update where she said she cut off a lot of people from her life in the past year, who were guilty of playing mind games on her. While she maintains a good relationship with her sons, Spears has distanced herself from people who don’t nurture her energy.
