While the fans are still awaiting new music from BTS with their eyes hooked to the calendar of 2026, Dynamite continues to break some mega records.

The group’s first-ever English track, Dynamite, has surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube.

As reported on September 4, Dynamite is now the K-pop boy band’s first-ever video to have hit the 2 billion mark. Released on August 21, 2020, the song has been an all-time favorite of the ARMYs since the beginning. The unique choreography of BTS, teamed up with iconic Michael Jackson steps and surprise reactions, was enough to make the official music video an instant hit.

Now, after almost 5 years, 13 days, and 20 hours, the BTS’s track achieved the milestone it deserved. Not only this, Dynamite also paved the way for many other all-English releases from the group, such as Butter (2021) and Permission to Dance (2021).

Earlier, the hit song had also debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 in the no. 1 position, which made it the first all-South Korean group to reach the rank on the U.S. chart. Dynamite positioned itself with three total weeks at no.1 (two consecutive weeks in September and one week in October), and also sold over 265,000 downloads in its first week. The track’s records do not end here because it also earned BTS their first-ever Grammy nomination, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

Dynamite’s records do not stop here because it experienced various other commercial successes worldwide, especially after being included in BTS’s fifth Korean album, Be, in 2020. The track debuted on Spotify with 7.778 million streams, which marked the biggest opening day for any song worldwide in 2020.

Interestingly, this is one of the very songs where the Bangtan Boys did not contribute to the songwriting or production process. It was originally written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, who gave it the 1970s influence of a disco-pop song.

When the official video of Dynamite was released, it garnered over 3 million peak concurrent viewers. With this, it surpassed the record made by BLACKPINK’s How You Like That, which had 1.66 million concurrents.

Now that the BTS Movie Week is just a few days away from its release, there’s a chance that the ARMY will be able to enjoy the members’ performance on Dynamite again. The screenings will include four iconic concerts by BTS that they performed over the years. The bookings are already in full swing for the grand event that will grace over 2,500 theaters worldwide. Those interested can still get their tickets from the official website of the group.
