BTS, SEVENTEEN, BLACKPINK, TWICE & others get nominated for this year’s VMAs

The VMA Awards are finally here, and MTV has taken the opportunity to announce its list of nominees on July 26, 2022. So, it is finally revealed that BTS, SEVENTEEN, BLACKPINK, TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY, and Lisa are a part of the list for this year’s Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The BTS members have received nominations in four different categories, including the best K-Pop for Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment). For the unversed, the group has won this category consecutively for three years at the MTV VMAs. Apart from that, the Bangtan Boys also got nominated for Best Choreography (Permission to Dance), Best Visual Effects, and Best Metaverse Performance (Minecraft) which is a joint nomination with international artist Coldplay for the collaborative track My Universe.

SEVENTEEN has got nominations in three different categories for this year, and among them is the one for the Best New Artist. The members have also got nominated for Push Performance of the Year for December 2021 with Best K-pop for HOT and Rock with You.

BLACKPINK’s nominations

The girl group BLACKPINK has got nominated for Best Metaverse Performance for the track The Virtual (PUBG). Apart from that, another BLACKPINK member Lisa also witnessed a nomination for the Best K-pop for the solo debut album titled LALISA.

Other nominations

The best K-pop category for VMAs this year witnesses BTS’ Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), ITZY’s LOCO, Lisa’s LALISA, SEVENTEEN’s HOT, Stray Kids’ Maniac, and TWICE’s The Feels.

The VMA Awards

The VMA Awards gets presented by MTV, and it seeks to honor the best artists in the music video world. For the unversed, the first edition of the prestigious awards happened in 1984. For the unversed, this year’s award ceremony will be taking place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on August 28, 2022. Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, etc., are some of the other nominees for this year’s award function.
