BTS’ V, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group, has achieved a significant milestone on the Billboard 200 chart with his debut solo album, “Layover.”
Since its release, the album has been setting records by amassing impressive streams and views. Now, V has secured his place as the first K-pop solo artist to spend seven consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, marking a historic achievement for himself and the genre.
Record-Breaking Solo Debut
In September, V’s solo debut album, “Layover,” made a remarkable entry into the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, securing the No. 2 spot. This achievement tied the record previously set by his BTS bandmates, Jimin and SUGA, for the highest ranking reached by a Korean solo album on the chart.
Seven Consecutive Weeks on Billboard 200
V’s success continues as he becomes the first K-Pop solo artist to spend seven uninterrupted weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. “Layover” has maintained its position on the chart without any drop-off, securing the No. 160 spot on the Billboard 200 for the week ending on November 4.
Notable Chart Performances
“Layover” has not only made history but also secured positions on other Billboard charts. It regained the No. 13 spot on Billboard’s Top Current Album Sales chart and ranked No. 18 on the Top Album Sales chart during its seventh week on both charts.
The album’s title track, “Slow Dancing,” has continued to perform well, reaching No. 30 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart in its seventh week, and No. 54 on the Global 200 chart. Additionally, V’s pre-release single, “Love Me Again,” also made a comeback, reaching No. 116 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart in its 11th week.
The BTS member’s solo journey is marked by impressive accomplishments, including a No. 83 placement on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart, showcasing his consistent presence as a solo artist for nine non-consecutive weeks.
